Apple Far Away event

Apple Watch Series 8

Apple is adding some features that were a reason to not buy before. Thumbs Up Sign
  • International roaming.
  • Family sharing. Previously, only the main wireless account holder could link their phone line to a watch.
  • "Crash Detection." My PA could have used this in June. That's a joke. Some people are too sensitive about stock mkt "crashes." The actual feature is for automotive crashes.

"New Airpod Pro." That's how everyone at Apple referred to them. Apple couldn't be bothered to rename it I guess.
  • Touch Control
  • Longer Battery life, up to 6 hrs
  • Speakers on the charging case in the event you misplace it. Maybe there was more, but it bored me and I stopped listening.

iPhone 14

Will be written and reviewed ad nauseum.

Facebook is obviously very big into VR. However, I personally think that Apple will be the winner in the space simply because of their brand. There have been rumors that their products is coming.out soon (https://www.tomsguide.com/news/apple-vr ... -and-leaks)

Do you guys think that the VR segment has the potential to be one of the more lucrative revenue drivers for them?

I didn't thought wearables(Apple Watch & AirPods) would be that successful, but people are buying them crazily.
I didn't expect Homepod to be popular based on the price and as expected not much in it.

Its more like we don't know until they demo and provide a price tag for VR.

I wouldn't expect it to be popular like Watch or Airpods. I am some what inclined this way as Apple prices it products in high range.

The YoY market declined, but Apple's market share grew via promotions, such at the BTS one. h/t AppleInsider

Worldwide PC Shipments Decline Another 15.0% in the Third Quarter of 2022, According to IDC Tracker
09 Oct. 2022

"Consumer demand has remained muted though promotional activity from the likes of Apple and other players has helped soften the fall and reduce channel inventory by a couple weeks across the board," said Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for IDC's Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers. "Supply has also reacted to the new lows by reducing orders with Apple being the only exception as their third quarter supply increased to make up for lost orders stemming from the lockdowns in China during the second quarter."

Should be interesting Q for AAPL... they certainly have the demand in smart phones [ahead of Android] but also making headways into computers... Did they whether the supply issues??

Pretty good move on Friday. I wonder how much of the move was a short squeeze and how much was a move to safety from other tech companies.

Sold quite a few calls that I had so will take any up move.

AAPL does tend to move up in bunches then consolidates. Moves down and up quite dramatic.

Use options to smooth out. Sell puts and covered calls depending where it is trending.

AAPL looking like a good trade now.

Last time they pre announced I believe was Jan 2, 2019. It fell 9% the next day and recovered the loss in about 3 weeks even before earnings release.

Gonna buy some, nay a lot, if they pre announce before earnings.

The earnings were hurt by lack of supply so they might release a statement to that effect, if material enough.

Anyone know what is latest they can announce by?

Sources: Apple could announce new Mac updates as soon as tomorrow
Jan. 16th 2023 8:10 am PT
https://9to5mac.com/2023/01/16/new-mac- ... eek-rumor/

The details here are sparse at the moment. 9to5Mac has independently heard that Apple is holding press briefings this week related to the Mac. This has also been corroborated by other sources on Twitter, including friend of the site Ian Zelbo. Additionally, leaker Jon Prosser has teased: “keep an eye on Apple’s newsroom tomorrow.”

9to5Mac has been told by an anonymous tipster that the briefings will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, with an embargo slated for Monday, January 23. This pattern makes sense and matches what we’ve seen in the past: an announcement on Tuesday, briefings and review unit distribution on Wednesday and Thursday, and a review embargo lift on the next Monday.

Not as bad as expected.

Guidance key and was lower revs due to demand or supply issues?

Then again if mkt thinks rate hikes done then that will add tailwind.
