Arcade 1Up - Replica Arcade Machines (Preorder - $399)

Not necessarily a hot deal, but pretty good price for a complete kit and it may be a limited run - no idea. I've been keeping an eye on these things and I'm super excited to pick one up. Walmart is currently offering them on preorder for $399. Free shipping.

They come shipped in a box and fit together like a piece of Ikea furniture. Supposedly they are quite light and can be moved around easily. The cabinet is around 3/4 size at 4ft. Weight around 60 lbs. 17" monitor. Artwork, bezel, control layout all authenticate to original. Would probably be a good base for adding a secondary emulator such as a PI into with some modifications. There haven't been any internal videos for the hardware at this point, so that is a bit of an unknown.

Walmart is shipping these out end of September (Update: looks like mid October timeframe now).

Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Crystal Castles (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/arcade-1up ... 0198431930) (Vertical display)
Rampage, Gauntlet, Joust, Defender (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/arcade-1up ... 0198431881)
SF II: CE, Super SF II: Turbo, Super SF II: Turbo TNC (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/street-fig ... 0198432102)
Asteroids, Major Havoc, Lunar Lander and Tempest (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/arcade-1up ... 0198432126)

They're only 60lbs?

It's not authentic experience even though it's marketed as such. What happens when you triple uppercut someone and they punch the screen? The machine isn't weighted enough to handle that :D

What's annoying is that these are $299 USD at walmart.com. which is $400 cdn, not $500.

I'm worried about replacement joysticks and buttons. I recall being disappointed when a game I wanted to play in the arcade was down for repair. Things breakdown so am I going to have a $500 paperweight after 6 or more months of use?

Good thing I wouldn't invite a mentally unstable person over to my house, so there's that.

They look small, like in the third video, the ppl talking are towering over them. Are these sized for kids or am I going to get a sore back hunched over playing these?

Hmm watching the video...seems too good to be true. The one video sounds like an infomercial. I’m not sold. But very neat idea.

Normal people are only a triple uppercut away from becoming mentally unstable

They're just 3/4 size. 4 feet or so. Small lcd monitor. I think they sell more from the overal looks, rather than the actual experience. Prob better with a pandora's box for far less money.

But, if these are actuallly licensed, and the hardware is good then they may sell. The downside is the lack of games per cabinet.

During E3 they actually had other games that they didn't reveal publicly but there was a pic showing them under tarps. Will look for the pic and post it later. Another thing is that there is a stand you buy sep and around $50 US so guessing $150 CDN.
