Asphalt contractor issues

Hello everyone,

I have redone my asphalt in less than a year and I just noticed a crack in my driveway. I have a receipt form the contractor himself for the job. I was calling for like 3 days but they never picked up their phone.

I would like to know what kind of options that I may have in this case. should I keep trying to contact them and procced with small claims court ? I never went through this before but the only good thing that I did was that I made sure at that time to get a receipt and pay the taxes for the quoted job.

Thanks for everyone in advance

Are they still in business? Or on vacation.

What kind of fix would you like? Tear out and new driveway? If just crack sealing, you can DIY for a few bucks.

All ashpalt cracks eventually David. You need to inject it quickly though or the crack will continue to grow.

Plenty of scummy contractors out there, but after reading this post... I can say that there are plenty of crazy homeowners, too.

What do you mean by "should have"? He either gave you a warranty or he didn't? Is this a legit business? Does your invoice show their Tax ID # (which it absolutely is required to do since you say you were charged taxes on the service)?

ETA: Just noticed the photo. That looks tiny. Can't you just seal it?

Keep calling. And calling. And calling. Until he addresses it.

It may not be big enough for him to come. Better seal it with asphalt silicon before winter.

That's a pretty tiny looking crack. Hit it with some latexite asphalt caulking.

Did they lay a new base down and properly compact it?
Is there tree roots growing under it?
