Why is this getting downvotes? This is the QHD version with no ghosting, and price best in class. Better than G15 since it charges via USB-C and better than the other ones in class due to screen and battery size.

People need to do some research lol

Edit: I should add that this is the grey version and the backlite keys are easy to see vs. white version.

because you pay 1500 for a gaming laptop with a 4 gb ram 3050Ti, which is knowingly no good for a huge amount of new 3A games?

Yea this is more for light gaming and more for Photoshop work etc, because difference between the 3050ti and 3060 is around $400.

For this specs if you want the 3060 with WQHD screen (which is better since the other screen has ghosting) you need model GA401QM-DS98 which costs what.... $1000 more? And it's hard to find jn Canada.

Or you can try the Dell G15 which the screen sucks as well with the 3060 and at 1599 price point.

But this package with this battery + screen + GPU combo can't be beat at this price. I would say it's aimed more towards people who do light gaming and more work.

Hmm, 2021 G15 is a better chassis though (if you don't absolutely NEED a 14" model), runs cooler and quieter. I exchanged my G14 for the G15 for that reason as the G14 gets quite hot on the keyboard during actual use. Also I'm pretty sure the G15 charges via USB C as well, I could be wrong but I don't use it in either case because neither will charge very fast in comparison to the brick/barrel charger.

Oh okay, no worries lol. Confusing with identical model names

I was definitely comparing 2021 Asus G14 with 2021 Asus G15, in which the Asus G15 is definitely superior in every way except portability.

I think the downvotes are probably due to the choice and specs of the device itself - probably due to the fact it's a QHD screen paired with a 3050 Ti. As great as that screen is, you're not gonna get the full experience unless you're only playing lower demand games like Overwatch, Fortnite, League, etc.

The 3050 Ti only has a slight advantage over the 3050 and it's still hindered by the fact that it's only got 4GB of memory. For a bit more money, you may as well get the much better performance 3060 which comes with 6GB instead. If you're really budget conscious you could save yourself some money and just opt for something with a 1080P screen and the 3050 instead.

This generation of G14 still doesn't come with the built-in webcam and with the 16:9 aspect ratio of the screen (even with the QHD resolution), doesn't make it a very good productivity laptop. So you basically have a laptop that's not quite suited for work and not quite suited for gaming either...

That being said, $1499 isn't a bad price if you're just looking at the specs individually. The G14 also looks and feels great. (I own the 2020 model with the 1660 Ti) Personally, I think it would've been a better deal if it was a 1080P screen with the 3050 Ti priced at $1299 instead.

I am considering the M16 2022. That said, the price is going to make me sick. Starting at $3299. Maybe I’ll have another look at the 2021 model, no mux switch and a slightly downgraded CPU but otherwise still a very capable if not loud machine.

decent setup if it had the 3060.
Id rather pay 899 for the G15 from Dell and upgrade the ram to 32gb.
id use an external monitor when home anyways + i dont see the huge fuss about the screen on the g15.its still quite nice

Your right .... the only thing that can beat a 2021 G14 is a 2022 G14.

But..... I think the 2021 G14 is a great laptop for this price, battery life is insane as well.
Super portable, and IF your looking for a business laptop than this is it. I would say better than the XPS 13 even.

If your looking for a GAMING laptop, better use moonlight to stream games from your main PC which works pretty good.

edit: the 3050ti 4gb vs 3060 6gb debate is very common on reddit if you google around, i guess it depends on what you are looking for.
