Asus vs HP for Desktops

I am located in Montreal and usually buy my systems at the local Best Buy. I am now on my 3rd HP desktop and in market for a new desktop. I use it basically for a home based small business and not for gaming. I am looking for an i5 or i7, INTEL and NOT AMD, at least 8GB RAM and at least a 1.5 TB hard drive. I also need built in capabilities to have dual monitors connected, wifi and DVD burner IF POSSIBLE but NOT NECESSARY. As I said above, I have been an HP person a few times over but now am considering any systems. Asus name keeps showing up everywhere but I am not sure. How do these systems compare with SPECS I need. I also have about 425GB of data to transfer from my current system to new system. Any and all suggestions/comments are welcome.

Thank you

What are your current solutions if a hard drive dies? Do you currently have backups? What is your business? Are you a graphics designer or you use accounting software? Just because you are a business doesn't mean you use Excel and Word all day long.

I have a 3rd party online backup that generates each night. I am in consulting, I do not use any graphic design software but I do use Microsoft Office software, accounting software etc.

Cloakster: both your suggestions are Asus machines. Do you feel Asus is better than HP? This is the question I am trying to get opinions on.

Asus due to the fact that they actually make their own motherboards for their computers, where as HP makes nothing themselves.

Since they do make some of their own parts, they have a better knowledge of building, which translates into better reliability.

asus would be my pick.
they make everything from mobo's to optical drives to video cards to sound cards, network cards and even monitors.
i think the only things they do not make is ram and psu's.

i have to agree with Asus. I think they have a better quality control over their products than HP.

Never actually owned a Asus though so i wonder if they actually do use their own parts on all things or if on lower end models they buy possibly cheaper parts- would be interested to know for future reference.

They cut corner with the CPU, mobo is probably low end and ram is very slow,
how do they cut corners with the CPU? i really would like to know this.

Intel Core i5-3330 (http://ark.intel.com/products/65509/Int ... o-3_20-GHz)
Intel Core i5-3350P (http://ark.intel.com/products/69114/Int ... o-3_30-GHz)

vs

Intel Core I5-3570 (http://ark.intel.com/products/65702/Int ... e-3_40-GHz)

Basically, the "advanced" features are missing (which the average joe probably doesn't care about but if this is the case why not just get a Intel I3 for even cheaper....)... I3-3220 does have less cache though...

they don't make CPU's or memory. Question is are they using a low end Asus MB or maybe a cheaper brand?

Notice the price difference from the bestbuy links posted by cloakster?
probably shouldn't compare MT to SFF, but did you also notice the warranty difference?
