Man. that blue "celestial" one looks nice.

Unfortunately, I don't go out enough and don't have a real mid-layer to actually need this hardshell.

I ended up paying $262 after tax, not including Rakuten or my triangle rewards. Pretty good deal for a high end jacket.

I have purchased items during employee sale with triangle promo, this ends up being cheaper.

You would pay minimum $275 plus tax.

It's a shell, it won't have any down or insulation built in.

I usually pay peanuts for HH at Winners. No way I'm paying hundreds for this. I save the big bucks for Patagonia and Arc. HH is way down the food chain both in terms of performance and reputation.

I would partially agree. This jacket is a very high end shell with lots of tech. My first Helly Hansen jacket purchase. HH has many tiers of clothing, from very cheap to pricier. I have arcteryx gear which is awesome but am giving the Odin a try, really good reviews. Currently don't have any Patagonia pieces unfortunately.

Would this be comparable to Arcteryx Beta SL Hybrid?

Possibly yes, I have the Beta SL, non hybrid version (no pit zips, think 2 vs 3 layer) which is my only arcteryx jacket I own. Have not used it that much yet. The Odin shell seems like it is really well designed and capable of withstanding lots of abuse.

People really like the SL hybrid based on reviews I've seen. Like the basic SL it is suppose to just be a light packable shell but people use them for all types of situations.

HH also only has two year warranty vs lifetime with arcteryx.

I'm not an expert though, possibly someone else with more knowledge could weigh in.
