Auto water irrigation and sprinkler system

Have ~2,000 sq feet of lawn that is long and narrow.

Planning to build an auto water irrigation system. Saw the below.

What's your experience with Orbit system? It seems fairly simple, and I wonder would it be cheaper if I buy individual pieces from home depot.

https://www.amazon.ca/Orbit-50021-Groun ... B07QMTRDQZ

Thanks in advance

I have a lot of diff pieces from HD and own the Orbit timer. The pieces are not cheap imo. Even the rolls of tubes which you will need a lot more than what's in that pic. Make a plan of your irrigation layout wit all the diff pieces and you can calculate how much it'll cost. Also, getting that amazon order may come with a lot of pieces you won't need for your layout.

For the individual tube stakes, you can save money and just use thick enough steel wires. Don't buy tube end caps, just bend the ends up and tape it tight.

The system once set with that exact same orbit timer works like a charm!

Thanks. So, for new DIYer and first timer, would you say that set from Amazon is reasonable in price and should meet what i need?

Do you have to blow out the water left in the pipe for winter? to prevent freeze and thaw damage?

FYI, I live in Vancouver, BC where the winter temperature is more mild.

I wouldn’t be concerned with getting cheaper than that, just that that kit is pretty low quality in terms of components.
I’d buy better quality hunter and rain bird components….so much of this job is in the labour.
Google discount irrigation supply companies.

May get away with not most winters but then there may be cold snap that really screws it up.

Avoid Toro. Some people I know say they've been replacing valves every couple of years Irritrol valves I have must be over a decade old.
