Awful IKEA Drona box colour mismatch

Going from teal on the product page (left) to baby blue IRL (right) is not acceptable, especially when you are designing everything else around it. Their next batch is coming in September, so hopefully the quality control will improve by then or the website team adds more accurate renders.

IKEA is falsely advertising a product colour, that is different in real life.

Photoediting pwns you. You do realize that most print and media marketing has hyper realistic images that don't reflect real life. Colours are hyper exposed and saturated and the brightness is always off the charts.

The brown and red sections are also in different places, that's got to be worth at least another $5000 in emotional damages

I understand the concept of exaggerating the product appearance to make it more sellable and the fact that the fabric dye is never as bright as on a mockup, but in this case we have a completely different colour family, someone had to deliberately choose a different colour number. My best guess is for the articles being this new, it didn't have an established colour code, and the visualisation team received one while the factory received the other, or it could be a simple quality control error, lack of proper pignments due to Covid19, etc.

You "designing" everything around the color of a cheap $10 Ikea storage box? Seems a bit dramatic...

The cost doesn't matter, they usually do neat, dare I say iconic designs that can be used for high end purposes, not this time though.

So... After knowing all this, can we help you in any way? Or it's just a rant thread?

It's a warning, a discussion, a curiosity thread. There's nothing wrong with holding the companies accountable for their screwups.

This

MOVE ON ...
Just use GOOGLE : ____ Storage Boxes
To find another Supplier / Product in the colour you actually want

Suggestions ... in your google searches try adjectives like Teal, Turquoise, or Coastal Colors (US spelling preferably)

I get your disappointment, but it is what it is ... hardly the end of the world

Complaining here will not make the company accountable. Réel fée to bring back your item to Ikea and have a refund. You should also update title with "curiosity / discussion thread)

But you are still allowed to post this kind of thread, it is not against RFD rules. Just don't expect much.

You are allowed to use the patronizing tone when no one asked, and I will happily continue pointing out important issues in the production lines, for others to see, including those who are looking it up on Google search
