Back To School | $45/20GB BYOD | Unlimited Calls/Texts | Caller ID/ Basic VM |1000 LD

Retailer:
Fido & Koodo & Virgin Plus
Mod Edit: To prevent this thread from being locked, do not offer/ask for referrals in this thread or suggest users PM you for more info. Infractions will be handed out.

They're offering BTS plans.
Only Applies to New customers or new activations.
Only available to Corporate and dealer stores (IE: Virgin, Koodo, and Fido stores)
Not available to Retailer stores (multi-carrier stores: WM, TMS, BB, WOW, Glentel (Wireless ETC Costco, Tbooth, and Wirelesswave), and Apple store. Yes, the Apple store is chasing new activations, and renewals as well.

Reg Plan = $60/20GB

- $10 for 24 months
- $5 for 12 months
= $45 first year | $50 second year | $60 third year|

Referrals:
Fido = 1 month free
Koodo = $5 off/month ($25)
Virgin = $5 off/month ($50)

Activation fee is waived. You pay $50+taxes. They give you a $50 credit on your 2nd or 3rd bill.

1000 LD Mins
= The same old free LD to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and other countries.

For Fido, you can try asking your local rep to add the $5 additional line discount. It stacks but they are not suppose to do it. Technically you can add it if you call in to customer support if you have a tablet plan.

Previous deals, I called customer support and told them to make my tablet 4gb plan (free) as the primary line. Then activate the special plan and get the $5 Add a Line discount. Some reps will do it and some will not so YMMV

Update Aug 18:

You can get this plan via Virgin Chat

Seems like Koodo has the 20gb/$60 on their site, but it’s 10gb + 10gb bonus which leads me to believe that it expires. I need to inspect the fine print

Virgin mobile corporate store does not waive activation fee. They charge you $25 instead per line.

As a current customer of Virgin, what is the path of least resistance for me to avail their $40/10GB BTS plan, if I want to keep my phone number ? Should I port out to Koodo/Fido then port back ?

As always shop around, port out and see if Virgin gives a winback offer. If not stick with the new provider.

If it's for new customers, will it work for changing from Telus to Koodo? Also anyone knows when these deals will stop being offered?

I know many don’t care about this, but from what I remember:
Virgin and Fido give you a 3 voicemail messages limit
Koodo gives you a 10 messages limit

I get a lot of calls from work and I found 3 max completely useless to me.

port to a prepaid. not postpaid.

Post-paid will cost you a $50 act fee if you are not staying 2-3 months.

I’ll likely jump onto one of these, and either this Black Friday/New Years something will come along and you can jump out, or maybe a winback deal will show up.

It's BYOD. Can't you cancel at any time?

Keep in mind that plans without discounts can be increased at any time. I wouldn't stress too much over losing the discounts- there will probably be a better deal over the holidays or next year's back to school season that you may want to switch to, regardless of what plan you have tomorrow. If negotiating a deal in a year is too burdensome, then I get it, but it totally depends on how you value your time and money. The concept of holding onto a great cell phone deal forever is a bit of a myth.
