Banned from store?

I went to Canadian tire and walked around, didn’t end up buying anything. As I was by the door, I was accused of stealing, the guard didn’t even say anything to me, he just blocked me from leaving and started pointing at my jacket ( which had my toque thats why it was puffy). I didnt feel the need to show him since he didnt even say anything so I said no. Their manager came up and grabbed me and pulled me to the back area. This made me mad bc he had no right to even touch me. They didn’t tell me why they were accusing me. When they saw what was in my jacket, they just said “oh” and told me to leave. I told them that’s what I was doing, and they said I was banned from coming back to the store. What should I do?

Why did you let the manager pull you? You should've called the cops at that moment.

If your story is accurate, then Canadian Tire committed a crime. Unless they saw you steal something, they cannot use force to detain/arrest you or physically prevent you from leaving.

That being said, Canadian Tire is private property and if they tell you never to come back and you do, then they can arrest you for trespassing (the crime they committed earlier does not invalidate their private property rights).
I would not advise you to break the law, but consider that most staff at Canadian Tire are younger people for whom it is a temporary job. If you *were* to go back in, say, a year or two, then it is unlikely they would even recognize you.

How forceful was the "grab" when the manager "grabbed" you? You should've called the cops and made a big scene. Would've been 6buzz worthy.

This sure sounds exactly like the person who started thread after thread in Automotive with new ids,,,

But new people have to have their first post approved?? and the mods approve these all the time???
