Basement Foundation Crack Repair

I'll probably attempt to fix a basement crack (leaks a bit) myself with a resin/epoxy kit from HD or Rona. Anyone attempt this, any tips or suggestions on products/stores?
Thanks.

PS crack is vertical so no structure issues. Runs up from floor behind builder insulation probably to grade or above.

Low expansion foam will do it.

Have u tried it, did u use the tubes u stick to the wall? There already was a crack prviously fixed and the tubes are still on the wall. So it made me think this cant be that difficult, and i watched sone YouTube videos.

I dug out around the wall down to the footings. Cleaned the wall. Filled the crack with a caulking for filling concrete cracks, pushed it in with a trowel. Waited a day. Filled it again, did the same thing. Waited a day. Back filled it. Been fine ever since.

I fixed two cracks in a poured foundation last year - both were from the floor to the sill. I dug them out from the outside, about 6' wide to the footings. Cleaned and filled with Sika expanding crack filler. Applied Blueskin (with primer and bitumen as per instructions). Back filled. From the inside, I painted the walls with Xypex. Has been okay so far.

Just wanted to give a follow up. Job done and I think it worked well. I'll know for sure in the spring after a good freeze/thaw cycle.

Bought the following from Rona:
CYNTECH "Fortafix" Crack Repair Kit (bought 2 packs of the 2 tubes just in case but will be returning one pack)
Nivapatch mortar
2 packs of CYNTECH Pack of 12 "Fortafix" Tubes

Worked great, rained like crazy yesterday, no water in the basement and I even 'hosed' the crack area outside to test it further. Only point I would suggest is to mortar or cover the outside of the crack, mine was hard to get to under the deck. As I injected the epoxy near the top it started coming out of the wall above the dirt outside. I think I shot enough in there, used both tubes in the pack to do a floor to ceiling (~8ft) of a fairly fine crack. Total was about $100 as I bought it on the save the tax day.

Interesting.

We have a ~5" crack in our poured concrete foundation running vertically from a basement window. I've dug a foot down under the crack and noticed that it does not extend below grade. I've done water tests and can only assume water (very little shows up under the bottom plate in the basement) is cascading down the brick facade and into the crack.

I've spoken to my usual general contractor who has been in touch with his "waterproofing guy", a company well known and very well reviewed in Durham Region.

According to him, in his experience, epoxy injections have been failing as cracks get larger over time. He's suggesting he dig down to our footings, I believe he said he would make a controlled cut, then epoxy that cut.

Total cost $800

As expensive as this sounds, I'm willing to do it if its the RIGHT thing to do. On the other hand, I'm not thrilled about throwing money away for no reason and if I can do this myself, I just may give this a shot..

I would (hammer) drill a hole at the current bottom of the crack, no need to dig to bottom. "Controlled cut" on the outside, concrete caulking..

Did you end up using this well reviewed company in Durham region? If yes, how have things been so far? Do you mind sharing their contact via PM if you're happy with their work?

Cheers,

My basement is finished and I can see a crack at the sill of each window from the outside. How is everyone digging and what's the best way to get it repaired. I got one quote and seems expensive.
