Bathroom Quartz Countertop and Backsplash

We are currently developing our basement, so it’s a blank slate. The company we are using to do the work has been great, easy to work with, and offers a ton of selections as a part of their package. For the bathroom, they include a quartz countertop which we are happy about. However, there is no flexibility on the thickness as their supplier only has 3cm (2cm option not available unless we pay a lot more). While we sort of had a preference for a 2cm thickness in the bathroom, we can certainly live with 3cm.

We are also thinking about using the same quartz for the small bit of backsplash between the counter and the wall mirror. However, we are unsure if this will look silly with a 3cm thick piece of quartz on the wall. It’s a small basement bathroom, with only a few inches of space for the backsplash between the counter and the mirror and a not too large overall countertop/cabinet.

Wondering about everyone’s opinions on 3cm quartz in a small bathroom and particularly whether using 3 cm matching quartz for the relatively small backsplash between countertop and mirror will look ok (or if it’s too thick for a backsplash).

Personally, I think the 1 cm differs little.

Even on a vanity backsplash (how tall are you thinking of going ?)

I have definitely seen granite or marble used in these applications … just as thick
Thanks. It’s about 4 inches of height between the countertop and the mirror on the wall.

IMO … not a big deal.

And if it butts up to the bottom of the mirror (is it framed or in framed ? )

Even less of a concern.

Yes, the plan is for it to run from counter to the mirror. Mirror is just a standard “builder grade” full wall type mirror.

Mostly just worried if it will look weird with it being 3cm thick touching the mirror (so I imagine something like a 3 cm “lip” up along the bottom of the mirror).

Don’t think this is weird at all … have seen similar in plenty of hotel rooms where they use granite or marble in the bathrooms.

If it still worries you … just frame out the standard builder grade full wall mirror … easy enough DIY Project, and will up your decor game / look

Watch this video BEFORE you do the vanity / backsplash install, so you can plan ahead for the height of the backsplash

In this scenario, the depth of the coordinated backsplash doesn’t matter … cuz it literally disappears.
See the one in the video, as a point of reference

End result looks a lot classier than just the standard builder grade mirror that houses come with

2.5cm on the wall ... close enough
