Once this guy starts work in the bathroom, he'll find a twoonie sized patch of mold. This means he'll have to gut the bathroom. He'll then find the original electrician didn't staple the wiring quite right so all that has to go. On consultation with Mr. Holmes, the entire house will have to be gutted because you just don't know what else is wrong with the house. You'll end up with the bathroom done, a kitchen of your dreams, and 3 walls removed to open up the flow through main floor. For some reason you also have a new home theater in the basement you never knew you needed.

This is the new canadian water rental scam where you don't need a door to door person to knock at your door. You literally call them into your home for the scam.

LMAO, my plumber installed a toilet and took away the old one for $300. includes the cost of the toilet. The Floor guy installed sheet vinyl for $300 and took away old one, Vinyl roll $100, Glue $30, Labor $300.

I was quoted thousands to do this, I got it done cheaper Piecewise from contractors. These bathroom reno people are garbage.

Your panel will also be upgraded to 500 amps regardless of your power needs or what amperage you have now.

This exact ad was posted in another thread and discussed, could find where that is buried.

But yeah, I assume their pricing is something in line of, >25% GC/overhead fee, 10% fee to pay off Mike Holmes, and add another 10% fee just because.

Also, this ad and the radio commercials I hear with them talking about 10 year old bathrooms like they are huge hazard are laughable. Watch out, your bathroom is 10 years old! Better do a full gut! Wut? I guess copper and pex only has a 10 year life span, and then it breaks down. Better run to my grandmothers house and rip out her 50 year old bathroom asap. Who knows what could be happening to that copper behind the walls.

At the same point in time, I'm not that surprised, if you've seen their reviews and prices for their basements, its basically $70k starting price for a basement that is basic AF.

Don’t you know contractors are the new SWE? 120k base salary + bonus if you upcharge the customer on materials.

I bet you he does not even know they are advertising like that... he is probably so far removed form the day to day stuff.. his management and PR company are probably handling it.

Day one. He was looking for tool financing before he launched his show.

Baumler was let go by Lowe’s and his name is now on anything he can get his hands on. And Lowe’s directly and indirectly paid him a fortune.

they need to cover off their marketing budgets for radio and print and the Mike Holmes endorsement. I'm sure they paid a lot for him to endorse their company and use his voice on the radio. the service will be no better as well.
it's like if you used Frank Leo in Toronto for your home sale, you're going to pay a way higher % because he has a ton of overhead costs. Or if you hire Sandra or whatever her name is as an agent because she has marketing and also hosted property virgins and house hunter. You're paying for the name.

No thanks.

He was was. First for himself, now for others.

PS-someone I know had one of those renos done in the TV show Holmes had...he was unable to tell me the terms due to confidentiality agreement, but about 6 years after the renos he admitted to me they were not that great and had to hire other workmen to fix the problems.

You did it yourself, great! Not everyone has the skills. Hiring stuff out will almost always be twice as much as doing it yourself.
