Seems like it is a bit of a lottery with these refurbs. Some are minty fresh and some looked like they got jumped in a dark alleyway :/

Go with i7 processor for best speed and resultsCrappymonkey wrote: ↑Jan 18th, 2019 1:23 pmI unfortunately don't know much about laptops. Would this one be good for photo editing in Lightroom? I'm looking for something portable to do my editing when I don't want to be tethered to my desktop.

better to buy from kijiji, where you can see and test it yourself before buying.
I bought one yesterday, X1 Carbon 4th gen 8GB, 180 SSD Grade A for 300$.

Actually no big performance difference between i7 and i5 for those laptop CPU with model end with 'U'. If performance is real concern you should consider laptops like W541 which have real 4 core CPU.
Regarding the usage of Lightroom it's hard to tell without knowing your use case, how big is your picture? what kind of editing you are doing? Overall I think these X1 should be good for some basic editing job but may struggle for real project, especially because of integrated GPU and non-expendable memory.
To get an rough idea about the performance difference with your current desktop setup, you can compare the benchmark(geekbenchmark, userbenchmark, etc.) of your current CPU/GPU with this one.

Update : I had discussion with their team over email, they told such defects/scratches are ok and one should expect from 3 years old system.
Just be cautious when u buy refurbished without seeing it. Good luck everyone!!

No harm in sharing, I think you got out pretty well, but to each their own.PritDealz wrote: ↑Jan 18th, 2019 1:23 pmWell, I am not expecting world out of refurbished product, but there is nothing wrong in sharing my views and I don’t see any issues if they send pictures of unit along with invoice. It makes more transparent.
This is like a lottery luck, you can get excellent/good/scratched units![]()
God bless.

Thanks for the pic. This is definitely concerning for anyone who plan to buy it and resell on eBay/Kijiji.

gen 2 X1 was a catastrophic failure. in addition, you are looking at a battery that is 1.5~2 years older with marginal cpu gain. avoid.william879 wrote: ↑Jan 18th, 2019 3:35 pmHow is this comparing to the eBay unit?

@PritDealz, it should be easy to flip these on kijiji if you give it a try, when I posted my first unit, I got several offers higher than the cost.
