Can you show me a alittle less cold deal?
Or, I'd prefer buy the iSmart or whatever it's called laptop for 199 from Canada computers just for surfing the web.

Well, that's just my opinion on laptops. Go ahead and buy if you think it's a good deal. I'd rather spend a little more ($500-600) on the regular consumer laptop with 8th gen U CPU than a refurbished 5th gen "business" laptop.
I'm waiting for boxing day then I can decide ,Your comparison is very wrong,You won't get a high quality laptop with SSD ,Full HD touch screen for a little bit price,it's way more than that.
It's not only about processors.

This is like comparing a small car to a full size suv.

This is much better than the 2nd gen since they brought back the original keyboard in gen 3 instead of that dynamic function key row. Personally I have a gen 1 (personal) and a gen 4 (work). Gen 5 is the biggest shift of all the generations with a smaller form factor. I'll probably see if my gen 1 can hold on for another couple years until the gen 5 refurbs are available before I get another one. It's nice how long laptops can last now.

I have been looking for X1 for a month now, you can definitely find better deals from private sellers.
Sure, and people can find oil, gold, diamonds, etc. for free, if they look hard enough and dig deep enough.

Someone has obviously not owned a ThinkPad before.

Is it possible / easy to upgrade the SSD to 256gb or bigger in this one?

Worth noting: you can make this a hackintosh, excellent guide here.
it's amazing how a little extra work and $500 can get you a self-made "MacBook pro" that still sells for ~1k.

the build quality is simply amazing:

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger soon. I will need to upgrade my family's computers and will get either the X250 or X1 Carbon 3rd gen or T450S.
My min requirements for now are 8GB ram and 256GB SSD.
500$ seems like a good deal...

"Very wrong"? Seriously?
Stand down, autobots.

This deal is decent-ish, not great. There may be nothing better right now, but that doesn't make it a 'good' deal.

I don't think these old Thinkpads are worth it if you consider the cost of possible battery replacement. By then you could get a new L series for not much more than that at that point.

If only this was fanless, then it would be strictly better than the iSmart.

Right now, if you don't have $500 and don't mind the hassle, go for the iSmart (link mentioned above), it gets the job done to be honest.

But if you want a godly ultrabook and have the money for it, go for this x1 carbon.

x1 carbon by a long shot.

first one is quite a bit more bulky, second one has bad resolution.

the $100 premium you pay here is well worth it imo.

btw, i think they are closed and will reopen on the 2nd.
