I second what Glancealot wrote.
15" screen is too big for my liking.
If T450 had FHD IPS, it would be in contention.

This is a great computer, and a great price. I had a 3rd gen X1 Carbon for work, it was replaced by a 4th gen and then the X1 Yoga. I preferred my Carbons, they were a little thinner and a little lighter. The Yoga adds the flip screen that I never use. If I was shopping for a laptop for home use I would jump all over this.

Luckily these look like they don't the proprietary connection for the SSD's.

I bought mine with 256gb ssd for same price year and bit ago and it has been my favourite.

Thanks for the heads up about SSD connection being different.
Would you happen to know the SSD connection type T550 (factory refurb, french keyboard model# 20CJS08Q00) TIA?

I don't think it is a super hot deal, warmish at best.
I have been looking for X1 for a month now, you can definitely find better deals from private sellers.
Yeah, I have to second this... I'm a bit of a Craigslist, used hardware junkie/window shopper and a quick search on my local CL confirms this. Typical caveats for private sales apply; is you have to deal with no warranty, lack of support for potential problems and sometimes flaky business dealings so if you're keen on saving a few bucks (along with shipping costs), there are indeed better deals out there if you're patient.

Cheers!
Edit reason: Non-comparable X1 generation

Decided to go with new laptop for $250 more. I know it is not the same league but 2 years warranty, i7, 8Gig, 256SSD 15 inch with 1920x1080 for $750 is no brainer for me.

Also, if you're in the GVRD there is a shop that's selling 3rd gens with slightly better specs for cheaper as well with 6 months warranty right now.

Lenovo X1 1 generation Carbon i7 3rd 8G Ram/ 128G ssd/webcam/win 10--------------------$480 (was $650)
Lenovo X1 1 generation Carbon i5 3rd 8G Ram/ 256G ssd/webcam/win 10--------------------$450 (was $600)
X1 carbon 2 generation of the CPU i7-4600U 8G Ram/ 256G ssd 1600*900 $550 (was $700)

Do a search on CL for Lenovo X1 carbon.

Cheers!

Ah, you are correct on that GVRD sale! I will strike out the latter part of the post as it is NOT comparable to Bauer's offering, but my observations on private sales do stand =) Thanks Glance!

private sales are the worst, i don't buy laptops from strangers on the internet, who knows what has been tempered with or what the machine has been through?

however, i don't care if it is a refurbished computer if i know that the previous owner is from a company that can afford getting their employees newest gen X1 carbon on a 3-year lease.

I'm late in the game here, but what did you end up buying, and from where? I'm stuck in Costa Rica with a newly damaged screen on my 3 year old Dell and have to get something before or by the time I get back to Ottawa. Thanks

Surprised there's no "Poorman's XPS 13" in the title, this seems a lot more suitable as that than the iSmart. I've heard about Bauer although wish they had a proper e-commerce site.

If only this was fanless, then it would be strictly better than the iSmart.

Right now, if you don't have $500 and don't mind the hassle, go for the iSmart (link mentioned above), it gets the job done to be honest.

But if you want a godly ultrabook and have the money for it, go for this x1 carbon.
WOW, this iSmart has become mythical.
One question, if the iSmart stops working, what is the warranty process?
