I just tried the bruichladdie classic. Fantastic whisky that I would describe as delicate. @50%abv

Makes sense, as the BC markup is ~$22 higher than Albert markup. The Bowmore 12 has $9.63 markup in Alberta, and approx $32 in BC.

yeah - no kidding! It is simply a massive "sin" tax that the BC government is all to fond of.
Good luck trying to have the BC gov't remove the 'invisible' taxes that they have on Wine, Beer, spirits, petrol, insurance etc etc.

Bootlegging would be a very profitable business in BC.

Bootlegging across most provincial borders would be profitable; hence why EVERY province is in no hurry to change provincial laws about importing liquor across provincial borders!

Too bad no deals on Canadian whiskey. My usual is the ryes in the $23 range so I guess not much room beyond the $2 sometimes.

Not to rag on OP, but what trash deals BC gets.

Recently the Bowmore 12 yr Scotch was $37.98 in Alberta.
https://forums.redflagdeals.com/real-ca ... y-2165926/

Still $20 higher in BC when "on sale".
I learned a while ago that there's different levels of hidden tax on stuff, and there's a category for "premium" and most scotches fall in the category and have crazy amounts of tax being charged :( I know Alberta's increased liquor prices on a lot of stuff, but whenever I go there I hypothetically load up on Scotch :)

a great mixing whiskey is the alberta premium whiskey, its really cheap also (compared to the bigger brands), I don't drink my whiskey straight so I cant comment on what its like without mix, but with seven or coke its really good.

alberta premium is a great price point for a mixing whisky. Teachers is a comparable level for Scotch
