Bell Canada dug up my yard

Long story short, Bell (or some contractor hired by bell) dug up the front of my yard to either fix or install a new line. (it's the city's property I guess, since the land is between the sidewalk and street, but I'd still like it to get fixed)

This was back in the winter, and 5-6 months later, I still have a pile of dirt where my flat grass use to be.

I tried calling Bell, but none of the CSRs know how to direct me - they keep giving me the phone number to another stupid service that I dont want (either for residential phone or internet).

Does anyone know who to call or how to deal with this?

Since you are saying it's city's property. Do you think they going to take this matter seriously.
When they did it in my property they asked me for permission and they fixed everything after done.

Is there still a hole that the pile of dirt goes into? Call the city by law office because of a safety hazard.

Unfortunately not. They filled it with the dirt they dug out, but of course it's not flat like it was before

You can try asking here, there are some bell reps on that forum and might be able to help you better - https://www.dslreports.com/forum/sympat

Thanks... I'll try.

@ kr0zet: ugh... I'm an old fart, meaning I'd have to make a facebook account!

I feel you, I haven't used my facebook account in probably 4 years... BUT You'd be surprised how fast companies react to social media. They never know what little thing might spark the next online outrage so they try to placidate social media posts ASAP.

If you don't want to make a facebook account, maybe a twitter account instead? Bell has a @Bell_support twitter account that maybe of help. I find a twitter account to be a lot less intrusive than a facebook account...

+1, call city bylaw. They know exactly who to call in Bell to get action

Why do you call it "my yard" if it's city property? Yes, it bothers you, but the city can do whatever and whenever they want. Be careful what you wish for too. I know someone complaining about pile of dirt on the same portion of grass, and they ended up installing blue Porta Potty for construction workers in that exact spot. It was sitting there 4 months till they finished working on his street.

It’s “your yard” in the sense that you have to maintain it even though it’s technically city property (by easement).

Back when I lived with my parents, when no one was home a Bell tech came to fix our neighbors telephone line. Their fix involved attaching a line going from the bell box on the side of our house, over our garage roof, draped across the front lawn going to the bell box on our neighbors home. My mom was pissed after a couple of days she took a pair of scissors, cut the line at our box and tossed the remaining cable onto the neighbors property. Shortly after I helped my parents cancel bell and go voip for phones.

As others mentioned, this seems to be in the cities hands now. How much dirt are you talking about? Can you just push it back into the hole? Waiting for the city to come will easily take another 6 months or more.

Call Oakville City Hall at 905-845-6601 and ask to speak with Engineering Department. That handle the Bell projects and can help you out.
