[Bell] Free additional 5GB data for ppl on $65/10GB plan from last year (YMMV?)

Hey so I just thought I'd share this because I didn't see it posted anywhere...

I was speaking to Bell loyalty department and was offered an additional 5GB free to the $65/10GB plan (that used to be $60) from last year.

It is not a limited time only as the agent actually switched the plan to a $65/15GB loyalty BYOD plan. So same cost per month with 5 additional GB of data ongoing.

Took only about 5-10 minutes and is definitely worth the phone call for those of you on that original plan from last year. I'm not sure if Rogers or Telus would offer the same.

Good luck!

Hey what are the steps?

Is it the usual?

Call with an intent to cancel and see what loyalty says?

Last question- when did you do it? On the phone now and the rep is looking for when that was available.

I just called and got the plan, won't take affect until the next billing cycle. Was on hold for over 20 mins after initial contact. Ty @OP

I tried getting this plan but i wasnt on the original plan $65/10GB Spent over an hour on the phone 2 days ago and they kept telling me we cant do it and its not in the system. So maybe IF you only had that plan your allowed the additional bumb of 5GB more? Oh well.

Yesterday I just moved two 2-year old 10GB/$60+5 plans to Koodo for $60/13GB. During that 2 years, BELL never once offered me anything better. They were really sulking about this plan when it happened!
Will try to move back as the larger the data amount the better. Despite the paucity of "deals", it is quite a competitive cell market after all. Thanks OP.

It appears as though it is only for BYOD plans - not corporate plans either. And it only took about 15 minutes to get. Just have to speak with someone in retentions (loyalty dept) and they should be able to do it... I was very polite and she had no problem doing it for me. I made the change yesterday and I am in Ontario if that matters...

Thanks for the insight OP,

I called and unfortunately wasn't able to get upgraded with the 5GB additional data. I have the BYOD $65/10GB plan (formerly the $60 plan) and I was told there was no such offer that they could upgrade me to for free. Instead I was offered some other in market offers.

Any tips on how I should be phrasing the ask?

Can you move back after your lines at Bell have been closed since this is a loyalty plan?

I just called Bell and yes the Rep gave me free additional 5GB.

I am on Bell Loyalty Plan $65/10GB per month
My next Bill will be $65/15GB per month

Call only took 10 minutes.

This is now harder to jump to another provider. And may have to buy the a new phone outright.

Thanks OP!

@sanjuo I dialed 611

Just got off the phone with someone saying he's one of the supervisors for the Loyalty dept and no such deals come up. Told him I chatted with a couple of people who said they called in today and got the plan. He says that he would be able to see such a plan.
