No contract for the internet that's for sure.

About the home phone, 2 years is no good for me.. I'm sticking to Bell, currently paying 13.95 thanks to this thread and another one.

I got Home Phone Lite package with $5 discount back in March 2013. Just received my first bill:

Home Phone Light: $28.98
Residence Line: $0.00
25c a minute feature: $0.00
Service Area Charge: $0.00
911 emergency service: $0.16
Touch-Tone Service: $2.80
Promo Home Phone Package 12 mnths: CR $5.00

Total before taxes: $26.94

I'm wondering about separate charge for Touch-Tone Service. I think I read somewhere in this thread that Touch-Tone is included in the Home Phone Lite package. Am I mistaken?

Bell charges for Touch Tone. It is what's called a 'mandatory option'. They tried to bundle it into the basic rates a few years ago, but there was a hue and cry from people (like me) who didn't have Touch Tone and didn't want to pay for it . . . . and the threat was that they'd lose the right to charge for the feature altogether, so they backed off.

It certainly isn't worth a surcharge, since the cost to deal with pulse is technically higher than DTMF (calling cards must be processed by a live operator, for example), but it is there.

I once stated touchtone was included, I found out it was just buried in the final total per month charge they discounted it to. My apologies.

BTW, with the 25 cent LD option, be sure to register with Easyvoice for your LD at 3 cents, they take over all LD on your line so if guests dial LD you do not pay the $2.50 ever. No contract, no fees, just .03 per minute. Or any other direct dial LD service, anything but Bell LD.

Hey Guys

I need some help. I have no idea how to deal with Bell and Home phone. I don't use it much and why I'm asking is for my parents. They use home phone and as archaic it is to use instead of cell phone, I'm wondering what would be the best deal to get for them considering that all I need from the phone is....

Call Display
Call Waiting
Home Phone and Touch Tone service.

This is my monthly bill breakdown

Home Phone Basic package
$38.98
Residence line
$0.00
Visual Call Waiting
$0.00
25¢ a min feature
$0.00
Service Area Charge
$0.00
911 emergency service access
$0.16
Touch-Tone service
$2.80
Home Phone Promotion
CR $14.97

Am I asking for too much or am I good with what I have so far?

Thanks

Parents bill had the promo removed, I called and the guy said the promo is over. He was talking about bundle promos and I said not interested. I am going to call Cogeco and see what they will offer but on hold now with the cancellation department for Bell. Going to see if I can get them the $13.95 deal otherwise will switch out their line.

Just called Bell and they said the promotion ended, nothing is left. I told him I wanted to cancel - so he transferred me to loyalty. The best he could do was 20.95 per month for 12 months - no contract. So this is with a $5 increase vs the 15 ish it was last year.

I believe Rogers is offering $15 ish a month for home phone, so use that as ammo as well.

Good Luck

I think it is better to not deal with Bell. Get cable Internet and set up a voip phone. I am using freephoneline.ca

Based on the pricing currently listed on the website, my parents' legacy plan with the touch-tone fee is a few cents less than what's currently being offered

Can you provide some details on what is included?
I spoke to loyalty and they gave me 14.95 (18.95 -4 bundle discount) for local line and call id/waiting + free long distance if I have cable and internet with them.

Can someone please tell me the direct phone # for the bell loyalty line? I have tried finding it in the many pages of this tread but can't seem to find any mention of the actual number.

Thanks.
