Bell Hub 2000 - 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz????

When I go to "Manage Wifi" it allows me to name my network, but it does not give me an option to choose a name for 2.4 GHz and a name for 5Ghz as I assume the single name flip flops between the 2 frequencies

Is there a way to be able to choose a name for each or am I SOL? If not, why would Bell do this, wait nm it's Bell so no more needs to be said.

Correct. The device connects to whichever frequency that is stronger. It's called a simplified wireless connection for "dummies" (there are certain people that do not know what frequency is what).

When you log into the router .... you would be able to see which device is on what WiFi network.

That sucks..... why wouldn't Bell let us have the option to set it up as we the customer want?

Can you change the SSID under the advanced settings and/or WiFi settings?

I know it can be done on the HH3000.

If you use a different SSID for 2.4 and 5.0, band steering won't work.

I don't see any option in the settings (advanced or basic)

Looks like I am going back to my Asus AC-86U router and disabling wifi on the 2000 again

Where are you seeing this? I posted pics of the only places it can be and I don't see any Advanced View option

Remember that this is the 2000, not the 3000

Turn off Whole Business WiFi and this may allow for different SSIDs.

Oh, so close......... It looks like audit13 had the right idea.

This still doesn't let you change the 2.4 and 5.0 SSIDS to different names, but it shows the location where the names are set.

Son of a................ That was easy. Not sure why Bell makes it so complicated to set it up this way though and hides this option

Thanks guys

It is my understanding that turning off Whole Business WiFi disables band steering.

ahh your a business account NOT a consumer residential, so business accounts they call the modem a hub 2000, but residential accounts call it a HOME hub 2000, makes sense, since businesses dont have a home, they have either a store or a warehouse or office.

Best bet would be to create a guest wifi network which only works on 2.4GHZ
