The TOTAL bill will decrease, but the INTERNET portion of the bill will INCREASE.GoodFellaz wrote: ↑ if you cancel your tv your bill decreases not increases, who ever told you that is smoking some really good ganja
That is what will happen if staying with Bell and that's exactly what the Bell rep said and what is stated in the thread title.

that makes no sense, the internet is fixed cost., if your getting some kind of promotion and then you do not qualify, then your internet is not increasing, your discount is going away, same thing but different thing kinda, if u know what i mean
I have not had any Bell services for years, but every time I have inquired about those Bell tries to sell me a bundle package of internet, TV and phone.GoodFellaz wrote: ↑ that makes no sense, the internet is fixed cost., if your getting some kind of promotion and then you do not qualify, then your internet is not increasing, your discount is going away, same thing but different thing kinda, if u know what i mean
I assume the OP has something like that.
If I then tell Bell I don't want TV or phone, just the internet, the internet price essentially increases because the bundle discount disappears.
So yeah, one could argue that the internet price stays the same.
But since the internet discount is no longer applied, bottom line is that one now pays more for the internet.
I thought the OP laid that out pretty clearly in dollars and cents in the first post

if you want only internet, then just ask "what is the price for only internet" and ignore the bundle price since you do not want that, do not compare bundle price because that includes things you DONT WANT. THIS IS HOW THEY GET YOU OR SUCKER YOU

Called them to ask for the procedure to cancel all services. Then again they asked the reason and after wasting time to wait for them to search for a better deal, they told me not to cancel TV service but changed the internet service from copper to Fibe 50 which is slow. They told me to wait for 1-2 billing cycles and check back to see if there is any promotion. Anyway, they don't want me to cancel any service but they also cannot offer me a better deal. I have been paying twice more than others for internet service at slower speed for unknown number of months. I am very unhappy with them.
When is the best time to terminate all services? The day before the next billing cycle or 1 or 2 weeks before that?

Cancel the day before the next billing cycle. You can call anytime and set the cancellation datesilverflagdeals wrote: ↑ When is the best time to terminate all services? The day before the next billing cycle or 1 or 2 weeks before that?

Thank you. So I can call any time this week and ask them to cancel it the day before the next billing cycle.
If they continue to refuse to cancel the services and try to get me for other deals, etc. what is the best way to make them to cancel the services?

Tell them you are movingsilverflagdeals wrote: ↑ If they continue to refuse to cancel the services and try to get me for other deals, etc. what is the best way to make them to cancel the services?
AFAIK, there is no "procedure" to cancel the service (I assume you don't have a contract)silverflagdeals wrote: ↑ Called them to ask for the procedure to cancel all services.
When you ask about a "procedure" that just tells Bell that you're not sure how to proceed so they just string you along, like so:
What did you tell them the reason was? Then again they asked the reason
Not that it's really any of their business
At this point I would forget about a "best way" even if it costs a bit of a pro-rated monthly fee.and after wasting time to wait for them to search for a better deal, they told me not to cancel TV service but changed the internet service from copper to Fibe 50 which is slow. Is it better to do it now or wait until the day before the next billing cycle?
I think you should proced as follows:
1. Decide which services you want - internet, home phone, cell phone, TV?
2. Go to a few websites that offer these services, for internet some suggestions were made earlier, put in your address on the website and you will find out if that provider offers internet at your location, the options and the cost
3. Once you have the cost of all the services you want (and the installation dates), go back to Bell and give them the cancellation date for the Bell services.
If you like you can post the service and cost here and people may comment on that.
No..... Not ASK them, TELL them...nicely.silverflagdeals wrote: ↑ Thank you. So I can call any time this week and ask them to cancel it the day before the next billing cycle.
Don't get into any discussions with the agent - just TELL them firmly but politely you NEED to cancel.

Maybe I am missing some information. Why it is better to terminate the services the day before the start of the next billing cycle? Aren't they going to refund me money for the remaining days if I terminate everything, say 1-2 weeks before the end of the current cycle?
Can't we just bring all the equipment from Bell to a Bell store and terminate all services there?

With Bell if you don't cancel your services on or slightly after your billing cycle date, they will remove all your discounts on your final month. It could add $50-100 to your final bill depending on how it works out.silverflagdeals wrote: ↑ Maybe I am missing some information. Why are you so worried about how to cancel? Just call Bell and cancel. Give them the date of your next billing cycle as your cancellation date.
What I do recommend, however, is that you have your new provider installed, up, and running *before* you cancel your existing Bell service. That way you will have zero downtime and you can make sure that you're actually happy with the new provider.

Thanks for the info. Why are they able to remove all discounts on the final month if I don't cancel my services on or slightly after the billing cycle date? It is kind of scam.SickBeast wrote: ↑ With Bell if you don't cancel your services on or slightly after your billing cycle date, they will remove all your discounts on your final month. So I should ask them to terminate all services on the exact date of the billing cycle not the day before? My idea is that once the next billing cycle has started, they would start charging me the next month.

No, never set up Bell to cancel the day before your billing cycle. That will allow them to charge you the full price and take away all your discounts for an entire month. They can do this because you agreed to it with their terms of service when you signed up. It's BS but it's their policy. It's part of why I don't use their services.silverflagdeals wrote: ↑ Thanks for the info. Always cancel Bell on or slightly after your billing cycle date.

Is the billing cycle date the date that they takes money from my credit card? I have already cancelled auto payment.SickBeast wrote: ↑ No, never set up Bell to cancel the day before your billing cycle. Supposing the billing cycle date is on the 21st. So I can call them anytime now and tell them to terminate all services on November 21?
