If they are Barracuda's, then they wouldn't be ideal for NAS's?

the Ironwolf ones are better for NAS i believe.

I've looked at Costco online but not sure what's what anymore, It won't see heavy use and just storage purposes.....what's ideal?

I am just looking for like 6-10tb to hold all our photos as our one HDD is a Wester Digital and it's getting up there in age so I want to copy everything over.

Wait for the 8tb Seagate drives to go on sale for around $150. They hit this price point at least 3 or 4 times a year.
I pick up one at a time at the first chance I get after cracking open a new one so I almost always have one laying around sealed and waiting to go when required.

This is a 1-year warranty drive, while WD Easystores and Elements are 2-year and MyBooks are 3-year warranty.

Thanks OP!
Best deal I’ve seen since the recent Synology sales.
Bought two to hold until the return period is over in case there are any better deals.
Was waiting for the 14tb models to drop to 250-260 range but I guess Chia has other plans!

I have the 8TB version for my PLEX library but it got full. Looking to buy a 12TB-14TB soon. Is this a good deal or should I wait another couple of months?

Hard to say if miners will keep the demand above supply, but I'm taking the fact that Best Buy even has a sale (they hardly needed to for the past while) as a positive sign. I just bought 1 for my new NAS, but am holding out getting another drive for RAID.

8tb Seagate expension drives IIRC are trash compared to 10tb+, my last 4 were SMR drives that has abysmal write performance. Yes they come up cheap with rebates frequently, but are only ideal for very low writes.
