Its a great deal. The CPU and GPU alone are at least $700 before tax. You can't even get a desktop at those specs for anywhere near that price so the weight is a non-issue.

the 7xxx series U cpus still suck IMO. The 8xxx series are good

In that case I'd rather spend more for an i5 hq since you can't upgrade laptop cpu so will be stuck with it until it dies.

940mx should perform better than the HD620, but in my testing the HD620 will run WMR home/VR apps and Steam VR the lab/wizard whatever it's called.. but the load times are atrocious with an i5 7200U. I'm using NVME SSD so it's definitely a CPU bottleneck. I should have waited for an 8th gen quad core laptop.

Always in search of a great deal....

Why? 30 day returns and excellent prices on Amazon (just make sure it's fulfilled by Amazon) . There are plenty worse places to buy computers.
