I agree
Comes out to like 950 with an SSD and ram upgrade

Those are some pretty ugly specs for a computer "powerful enough to easily handle advanced games." An SSD and more RAM would go a long way, but I suspect you could do better for the same money if you wait for Black Friday.

Oh of course
It was more of a buy if need now
I saw it had a 500w power supply and thought it was better than the 360w the new XPS comes with

Thanks for mentioning this. I have something as reference to compare to BF-sales potentially for a decent gaming rig.

For shits and giggles I just headed over to Memoryexpress and put together the same spec'd PC on there.

Came to $779 Face With Tears Of Joy So I would say confirmed lukewarm deal at best.

pretty sure this was on sale for $799 (reg $999) a month ago. the new sale price is actually higher. MSRP has been inflated by $100 making the discount seem larger. a colleague of mine actually bought one of these and returned. terrible build quality and manufacturer clearly cutting corners by using the cheapest mobo available, cheap single channel memory and a stripped down version of the GPU

Interesting. What effect does the "stripped down" GPU have on performance?
