[Best Buy] Apple 12W USB Power Adapter - $18.98 (regularly $24.99)

Bestbuy has the Apple 12W USB power adapter on sale for $18.98 (retails $24.99 everywhere else like Apple, Staples, etc).

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ap ... a/10204303

The 5W and 12W are normally both the same price ($24.99) and don’t go on sale all that often. For those unaware, the pre-bundled charger that comes in the iPhone 11 and lower models are the (very slow) 5W chargers that take a long time to juice up a phone to a full charge (2-3 hours normally). This 12W charger is the one that normally ships with iPads and do a significantly faster job charging an iPhone (I bought one and it juices up my iPhone XS in about 1 hour vs. the 2-3 hours my standard 5W charger does it in)

Solid deal as Apple branded adapter hardly goes on sale - thanks OP.

Amazon (even sold by amazon items) is terrible for fakes, I'd go with a B&M store like BB over ordering things like Apple accessories, Memory cards and batteries.
Amazon really has to stop allowing co-mingling 3rd party inventory.

This 12W charger is the fastest regular charger you can buy, but if you buy the 18W fast charger (comes with Pro phones now), you can get even faster charging, Unfortunately it's $40

Always fast charging your phone is probably harder on the battery (generates more heat), so I actually don't mind using a regular charger like this. I usually don't need the fastest charging because I charge overnight.

Is it not my understanding that even if you buy a fast charger, it means nothing if your phone wasn't made to take advantage of it?

absolutely.

The newer iphones support fast charging so they will charger faster with the 18W and above chargers. Basically everything iPhone 8 and up.

If your device doesn't support fast charging and you use the 18+W charger, it will charge at the same rate as this 12W charger (5 volts, 2.4 amps)

I've never heard anything about these Apple adapters frying themselves, but I've had other brands like Anker just stop working. Even though you can buy much cheaper adapters with lots of ports, there's something to be said about having an official Apple branded item.

For those that have switches, these are excellent secondary chargers for them and cheaper than the official nintendo one.

I know this “fast charging” feature isn’t available on devices older than the iPhone 8, but will it still charge it faster on the iPhone 7 Plus since I’m also using the included 5w charger. My 2.4A car charger charges my 7 really fast!

I've had one of these for a while; forget from which device I received it from. Overall, regardless of your device it does charge it quicker.

I am presuming companies will slowly phase out USB-A ports as Apple is now USB-C to Lightning.

Anyone know if these are practical to use with an iPad pro or would the 18W be my best bet? I dont necessarily need fast charging since it would be plugged in at night

Unless you absolutely must have a white glossy power brick from Apple, or else you're much better off getting these:
https://www.amazon.ca/Charger-RAVPower- ... 08&sr=8-13

Higher charging speed, smaller physical size, can charge 2 devices at once, won't become obsolete as everything goes to USB-C, and just $1 more than the Apple adapter's sale price.

I've stopped buying ripoff Apple adapters for all my Apple products...

Any USB charger would do (lower the watt longer the time). Since you are charging overnight it doesn't matter.
