I have a 10 year old ASUS G73JH that gets used sparingly and works great, but I need to get a new one as if it goes down at the wrong time, it'd be a big hassle. (hosts my database, used when I work remotely while on vacation, etc)
It was much more expensive than this one, but the funny thing is it has basically the same specs as this guy here.
I wouldn't say I'm an ASUS fanboy, but 10 years is pretty good compared to the dells I've tried over the years, so I may just stick to them for the next purchase. So keep the laptop deal posts going :)

Does anyone see any better options in this price range (or a little bit more expensive)?

I retired my G73jh-A2 last october after it had been my wife's everyday home computer for the last few years. The only reason I retired it was that is kept bluescreening hard after the lastest windows 10 updates due to compatibility issues. This thing was a freaking tank and I never saw the need to replace it before this because the specs were similar or even better than cheap new laptops. From June 2010 to October 2019. Not bad.

Oh it's incredible all right but not for the right reasons

Don't forget those were the bad years where U serie CPUs were low power but had zero performance.
This 6th gen 6006U has worst benchmarks scores than a 3rd gen i3-3110M from 2012...

When retailers start bringing 6th gen Intel processors, you know they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for stock

The major bottleneck of this system is the 5400rpm HDD .... It will be very slow ...

I suppose you can upgrade to a SSD ...
