If you don't mind the price, this is a very good router to get.

It has a very fast CPU making it suitable for VPN use. The fast CPU also greatly increase USB transfer speed. It is also AIMesh compatible.

I own this router.

Bought it when BB had it on sale for $199.99 and PM'ed it against Staples and stacked on a few coupons.

Would definitely recommend!

Price is steep for a router but i'm recommending it. I have this in my basement and signal is #1 on my 2nd floor. 10/10 would recommend

This is an outstanding router for a great price. AFAIK it has the fastest CPU of any router, with coverage to match. I'm very happy with mine. It's great for NAS usage also. Overall highly recommended.

YES!! absolutely!! range is way wider, and 5GHz range is longer. Speeds is way faster... I am able to get up to 900MBs on bell fiber connected directly (by pass the bell modem).. R7000 could only go up to 650.

I'm on the rogers grandfathered W45, so speed is not a major concern.
How's the 2.4Ghz range, as mine dies in the basement (house is 3500sqft)?

I own this router and it has very good range. I have to walk a pretty far distance from my house to get wifi to stop lol.
