[Best Buy] Asus Zephyrus 15.6” Gaming Laptop Ryzen 7 4800HS/16GB/GTX 1660 Ti/144 Hz - $1399

Good deal for a high end slim Gaming Laptop. I checked the Zephyrus line in person at Best Buy and it’s definitely better than the Asus Tuf line that’s also on sale. Comes with windows Pro instead of Home. A better 144hz screen than the Tuf and better build quality.

Cons are a smaller battery size compared to the Tuf and the processor is HS which is slightly slower but I’m guessing Asus did this because of heat issues and if I remember correctly the Ryzen 7 4800HS uses less power than the 4800H correct me if I’m wrong.

The screen on this flexes less than the Tuf and feels more sturdy not to mention it weighs less. The 240hz version with RTX 2060 is also on sale.

EDIT: Warranty is 12 Months. If you want 2 years warranty you can grab it from costco, but the price is $1439.
EDIT: The 240hz version is sold out.

Hmm... $200 more for the  RTX 2060 version. Tempting.

There is very little difference in performance between the 2060 and 1660ti

The difference is the video card, 240hz screen vs 144hz, 1TB SSD vs 500GB. So that's actually worth it.

Is the 6GB video card shared with the RAM?

Keep in mind this is a comparison with the true 1660ti and not the max-q design which this configuration has so it can be a slim laptop which effectively neuters the 1660ti performance by capping it.

The 1660 version I think is the TI, the 2060 is the Max-Q. At least that's what Best Buy is listing. But the display on this and build quality is definitely better than the Asus TUF.

You can also get the Asus TUF with Ryzen 9 4900H/512GB/RTX 2060 for $1499. The screen was more important for me so I went with the Zephyrus with the 240hz screen. But if power is more important to you the TUF with the Ryzen 9 might be your cup of tea. Price looks good on this as I haven't seen any other Ryzen 9 4900 with RTX 2060 at this price point. I'm just worried about heat and I like the build quality on the Zephyrus more.

Both are MaxQ processors.

Would this be a better/faster laptop to edit 1080 videos on premiere than a Dell XPS 15 i7-9750h with geforce gtx1650 4gb?

Yup! Bought this and it arrive earlier this week and I am thoroughly impressed with it so far. Amazing build quality and incomparable bang for your buck.
