[Best Buy] Bestbuy: Koodo Samsung Galaxy J3 0$ upfront with Small Tab, 300$ Bonus gift card on new activations

Expiry: Unknown

Bestbuy: Koodo Samsung Galaxy J3 0$ upfront with Small Tab, 300$ Bonus gift card on new activations
Option 1: 240$ upfront with no tab *best if trading in*
Option 2: 0$ upfront, 240$ on small tab *best if not trading in*

Trade-in credits can only be applied to the upfront balance. Bestbuy might allow trading in of devices other than just mobile phones such as laptops, tablets, etc.. (YMMV on trade-in values).

Double referral credits are still available. 50$ bill credit for both the customer making the referral as well as the new customer signing up. Yes, you can receive both. New customers must remain for at least 3 months to keep the referral bonus. With double referral bonus I see no reason to terminate before 3 months.

After sign-up call to place phone on 3 month seasonal hold (also YMMV), this ensures you will receive the referral credit(s) as well as the sales agent receiving their commission. After 3 months cancel outright and pay off any existing tab balance.

Personally, I would PM at RCSS as I consider PC Points the same as cash for me.

Final Pricing should be something like this:

Option 1: Best with trade In
Upfront cost: 240$ (device – no tab) + 10 sim card – trade in value (50$) * HST = 200*1.13 = 226$
Bonus: 300$ gift card
3 Month cost = 15$/month with seasonal hold – 50$ referral credit (100$ if self-referring) = no cost, possibly 5$ or 55$ account credit (to be confirmed)
Summary Option 1: 300 (gift card) – 226 (cash) = Net 74$ in pocket after 3 month seasonal hold. Possibly an additional 55$ account credit. Can anyone confirm if a credit would exist on account????

Option #2: No trade in
Upfront cost = 0$
Bonus: 300$ gift card
3 Month cost = 240$ tab balance + 15$/month with seasonal hold – 50$ referral credit (100$ if self-referring) * HST = 265.55 (209.05 if self-referring). Cost could also be reduced further by changing phone number to Alberta and reducing sales tax before paying off tab balance).
Summary Option 2: 300 (gift card upfront) – 265.55 (cash over three months) = Net 34.45$ in pocket after 3 month seasonal hold (90.95$ if self-referring).

As someone who doesn't shop at places that use PC Points, I would do the following: Use the Best Buy GC to buy prepaid credit card near the cashier, you can pay off the tab with the prepaid credit card but you lose $6.50 plus tax in activation fee.

But........ this phone sucks balls. I wouldn't get it for that much trouble. Cause in the end, it's a free phone plus maybe $5 in your pocket for the prepaid credit card ($240 + $15 activation/SIM fee + $6.50 prepaid credit card act fee + tax - $300 in prepaid credit card).

This is for the 2016 version of the J3 and the specs are crappy: 16gb internal storage, no compass or gyro sensors, and only 1.5GB of ram. The Q6 deal from TMS is a way better value in my opinion, and it is also free/almost free after staying 90 days on seasonal hold and getting a $50 referral (or $100 if self-referring).

I see it on the desktop site, under special offers.

You can view the 300$ gift card promo on the Best Buy website. For some reason it does not display on my smartphone but if I view/load as desktop it is displayed.

Q6 deal is dead so this is only phone right now if you want a free phone.

only problem is I'd have to spend $300 at Bestbuy and that means buying unneeded electronics.

You may be able to by a prepaid Mastercard/Visa using your Bestbuy giftcard. I have never done this myself but have heard that it is possible. Might vary on location.

Thanks, you guys taught me the importance of double checking with desktop mode.

No stocks at TMS, btw.

Negative. Called store. Saved trip and my money.

Before anyone asks, other stores don't have this phone so don't waste your time going there. J3 prime is a different model.

I don't think I'm eligible to receive referral credit again unless I sign up with a new name and email any more. Tried to get one and it says my name/email is already signed up for it. Meh.

You can sign up with the same name and a new email address.

Based on my past experience, the sotck is pretty low (maybe less than 10 units) when BB offers $300 gift card.

Free phone is good, but the value of this phone is low, which makes this deal not that hot. In my opinion, if you can get a Koodo phone that is $200 less than the market (Kijiji) price, it is a good deal.
