Is this better than this printer?

I think the main differences are .... 1) ADF 2) LAN (wired) interface

In paper, it seems so. For example, in addition to what @willy said, the one posted by the OP has more memory (128MB vs 64MB) and slightly better throughput (36ppm vs 32ppm). You can find a side by side comparison (spec-wise) at Brother https://www.brother.ca/en/compare-produ ... EHLL2390DW

BTW, Brother currently has the one you are asking about at the same price as Amazon (~$120 + EHF/Tax)

Is this the printer where you can't use generic replacement toner cartridges? I think this model has a microchip toner cartridges which prevent the user from using the cheap generic toner refills. I think this uses the TN-730 and or TN-760. Not sure if there is a hack for the microchip.

The previous Brother models uses the TN-630 and or TN-660 or the cheap generic equivalent toner cartridges.

Thanks OP needed to get a printer for my parents and this one is great. I have the model before this from Brother the L2540 and it had been a great buy. Will try to PM at Best Buy today.

$10 per cartridge when bought in a multipack from places like Amazon. Look for Ink First brand.

Success in price beat at BestBuy with CanadaComputer link. $100 price difference, price beat gave me $129.99 before tax.

Thanks, OP.

Feel like everyone should be buying from Brother Canada refurbished section whenever possible. HUGE discounts, basically brand new, warranty, and a newsletter discount.

https://www.brother.ca/en/refurbished/c ... transition

edit: Hrm, quite a few are out of stock, but you don't see it until you click on each specific item. Looks like the section isn't as good as I remember, but may be worth waiting for stock depending.

i bought this exact model from Brother directly for $67 pre-tax though. It's refurbished but really as good as new. I would do it again if I need one.
