I need to return mine from a couple months ago. It stinks the house of plastic and the food takes on the same plastic taste. It’s gross. I’ve used it 5 times and no less noticeable. Wouldn’t recommend.

Anyone else have this issue?

For the larger or the smaller one?
I have the smaller one for almost a year now and I have no issues with it about taste. But durability...let's not get into this.

The plastic smell does go away, never noticed a flavor transfer though. This thing is awesome. It has become our most used kitchen appliance, so much so that i just bought another one. Would highly recommend!

Not at all. This is one of the best kitchen gadgets we have. The wings come out fresh and crisp. Fries are awesome too! Just needs a pinch of oil. Maybe you got a lemon.

I have one and the plastic smell does go away after the first use. Comparing to the smaller 3.4L T-Fal that I have, this one is much powerful and can handle more foods at once. The only downside is, it does take up more counter space. Love it so far.

Love mine, don't have the plastic smell at all.

Fries and chicken fingers are amazing!!

Chicken wings from costco were really good too, just take a long time to get them crispy.

This pops up often enough.

Here's the thread I made during the Christmas sale last year. Lots of pictures, info and discussion about the Insignia's.

I got my Insignia air fryer two months ago and I consider it one of the best appliances in my kitchen.
To get rid of the initial plastic smell out of the box, wash well the basket and then cook some sacrificial potato wedges (set to 400 deg F temperature) outside on the balcony or in the backyard for about 30 minutes. After that, the smell should be gone.
