I didn't downvote (it's not a bad price for what it is) but important to note that there's no IS, and I suspect this focusing motor is loud.

Generally considered one of Canon's poorer lenses. Couldn't see this model on Canon's estore page, so presumably discontinued.

If you're looking for an inexpensive zoom lens the 55-250mm lens is well respected (of course, it 's a bit more expensive, $229 at Best Buy).

the 75-300 is garbage. the 55-250 is good.

Yeah, get the 55-250. It has a silent stm motor and IS. I got mine for $120 on ebay and it works perfectly

I bought this years ago when starting out with SLRs (albeit probably the USM version). After trying it for a day, returned it and spent the $$$ for the IS version.

You can really only use this one at long zoom ranges with a tripod, while with the IS version you can hand-hold and get reasonably sharp photos, even at 300mm.

As others have mentioned, nearly useless at zoom without a tripod. Has been as cheap as $75 before and still too much.

This 75-300mm non-IS lens is often viewed as the absolute worst lens that Canon has ever made in its history. Firstly it is a zoom lens without IS, meaning it is very hard to handheld this and must use a tripod (Unless it is very bright outside, or you use ISO 25600 or something to keep your shutter speed at 1/300). Secondly even in the best of situations, its image quality is very so-so at best.

Worst yet, it is often used by "noobs" that really don't know what they are doing. So you see the very worst equipment most often used by noobs here. They might take a shot at 300mm at 1/40 shutter speed without IS. What can go wrong?

Some people say this lens is one of the contributing factors for Canon's declining sales. Many noobs spent like $1000 on their camera with this lens, and they get very frustrated with the results. So they go back to using cellphone for photos.
