Agreed.

The S2716DGR is a 5yr old model and its MSRP was ~$750 back in the day (much like the current S2721DGF is today). The S2716DGR (formally S2716DG) could be had as low as $449 way back in 2018. $399 is indeed the lowest price it has been, but you would be much better off waiting for the S2721DGF to go on sale.

This is a decent monitor and a decent price, but it's TN. Dell recently came out with a 1440P 144Hz IPS monitor, and that's the one I have my eye on to pair up with a new RTX 3000 series GPU. I'm just waiting for reviews. It's apparently using the same panel as the LG 27GL850-B, but comes with a much better Dell warranty (and hopefully the better quality control Dell is known for). Hopefully there's a sale come Black Friday, and coupled with Ebates you might be able to snag the IPS for only $200-$250 more than the TN. I think that's a better value, but obviously it depends on taste/priorities.

I've been holding out on 1440p 144Hz for years until the pricing got more reasonable. With the new RTX 3000 cards and more monitor selections, I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. Can't wait :)

Your gpu works fine with free sync, no need to get this old g sync monitor. Just get a similar specs IPS free sync monitor, usually around 450 or could be less .

For $100 more, you can get DELL 31.5 curve screen with VA 10bit (8bit+FRC) panel with 165Hz fresh rate

In my research (which I should provide here but it was done Xmas 2019 and don't have it now) the actual G-Sync Chip does make a difference verus G-Sync Compatible or FreeSync. I'm not going to argue that it is worth the sort of markups we usually see, but there is a difference.
