Man, can people stop buying cards for like 5 seconds. this is crazy. stock sells out so fast on anything 3060 or 3070 or 3080.

GTX 590 was $699 on launch... I bought a 580 for $279 after MIR. You can get the same performance in a 1650 for less.

But yes, NVIDIA stock is so overhyped like Tesla they are just jacking prices up at the top range.

Not worth it for most people, unless you're desperate and have the money.

Damn, looking back, those were the days of affordable graphics cards. I remember thinking back then that $600 for a gpu was over kill. Now nvidia is selling them for $2k. The way things are going, in a few years from now, the price of a gpu will be $5k.

Nowadays, even AMD is selling it highest end gpus for $1000.

Is the demand on cards from gaming or crypto? I thought the last big crypto boom was driving it, but I am not sure if that's the case now?

A $899 Mac Mini that’s more powerful than most systems that cost 2x is not overpriced junk like a 3090.

Mining is starting to ramp up. Demand was already high due to people staying home and gaming to pass time instead of other things like traveling.

At least this has a slow depreciation, or might make you a profit reselling. Also, this can mine you crypto, gradually gaining the cost of the card back.

I'd say personal use demand is fairly constant over the years. It's crypto mining and demand for GPU style processors for cars for safety/autonomous features (see "Nvidia Drive"). Even Xbox and PS5 can't make enough units because of bottlenecks on sourcing the GPU.

If you're spending this much, I wouldn't go with this variant, personally. Cooler is one of the worst.

580 was released FOUR years ago. The 1650 is mid-200s and is slower than the 580. You need to step up to a 1650 super to match it.

It's actually quite bad.

Decent price. About $100 to $130 (~5%) savings compared to CC and Newegg, not to mention it's in stock as well. Gigabyte and ASUS offerings are comparable as well.

Mining + scalpers + pandemic (i.e. more people wanting to game) = worst time to find stock for any GPU
