Assume I don't know anything about gas ovens and have been meaning to convert my electric to gas.
I have seen similar priced ge models in Costco website maybe even the profile range.

I have seen used good condition ones in FB marketplace for quite a discount.

Can one of you experts provide feedback and share experiences.
I am considering ge because of my limited research that is the best !/$

I don't have a login for consumer reports right now, but I think they had Samsung rated #1 for consumer satisfaction (hard to believe I know), followed by LG & GE at 4/5. If you don't have a CR account, use a friend's, or your local library (*hint* there are a lot of libraries out there).

If you don't have a gas line behind your stove, you'll have to consider if the cost to install it is worth it to you. The one thing I remember about my old stove from 15 years ago was that the full size oven took wayyyy longer to heat up than an electric, and that I hated the gas broiler (flame at top of oven). The broiler didn't brown very well and was uneven. This double oven range above has an electric broiler element in the middle, so gives an alternate option for pizza and browning if desired.

As for cooking on the stove top, using a flame with pots and pans is always superior. Faster time to heat up pans, and instant heat control. There's a reason all those chefs on TV are always cooking with gas...

I don't know, CR used to be THE source for relaibility ratings. But if they're suggesting Samsung and LG are reliable appliance brands, then their realibilty in providing reliable reliability ratings, is laughable.

I totally agree. I will never buy another Samsung appliance ever after experiencing how crappy their dishwashers are. As for LG, I've never owned one, but when researching for a range, I couldn't get past all the negative customer reviews and decided against it.

I think I might just spring for the extended warranty this time with the GE purchase. Saved $200, so why not. It doesn't look like there are any great options for 3rd party extended warranty companies out there though. Geek squad sounds horrible, and Comerco doesn't sound much better. Anyone had any experience?

Can you simply switch an electric range with a gas range (provided you have a gas line installed)? My understanding was that building code nowadays requires minimum clearance around a gas range, at least in Ontario, making a swap difficult unless you gut the upper cabinets around the new range.

Don't forget to run your hood fan while cooking or you're introducing a number of pollutants into your home. Gas stoves specifically are bad for CO and NO2.

Or just grab an induction for even faster boiling of water...

Strange that the oven is gas, you would think with dual ovens it’s marketed to people who would use it often and prefer dual fuel? At least the bottom oven is convection.

You're right, but I still prefer it for cooking! I keep a CO detector on all floors, so will have to see if it goes off after a few years (they detect long term as well). It's interesting that most of the world is still using gas to cook with. World Gas Cooking Chart

The hood fan makes sense though...it's there, so use it!

If you have Workperks/Venngo, this model is currently selling for $1,439.28. The average discount is about 30% off retail prices for ranges

Samsung for gas ranges are awesome, never had big issues and the gas works is actually very highly rated.

I wouldn't suggest that RFD is the last word in consumer reliability polling, but I would say your opinion is very much in the minority around here. I think Samsung in particular has garnered a fairly significant, and universal, "thumbs down" rating by posters here. And we are a very diverse and broadly opinionated group. Advising people to stay away from Samsung appliances is probably one of the few things that we have collectively agreed on.

Here are the specs for installation. I have a Lg gas and like this one they say 30" clearance above the stove.Remember you will probably also need a regular 110v ac outlet instead of a 220v outlet that an electric stove uses.

I hope my mom's experience with a Samsung gas range might be useful to some: she had a model that looked similar to the GE in this thread. It ran so hot the control/display panel warped and stopped working within 2 months. Samsung refused to honour the warranty and instead directed her to deal with the vendor, TA Appliances, who directed her back to Samsung. She ended up returning it for a refund and got a GE slide in range from Home Depot which has been functioning well but the handle on the bottom drawer had to be replaced...same with freezer drawer on the GE fridge which is otherwise functionally good.

The only(almost) thing can go wrong on gas stove is the controller board if it have one, otherwise it is spark/gas/dial.

I have my stove for 20yrs - no controller - other than I might have to unplug and plug back the spark wire every few years it is problem free - well there are nothing in there to go wrong. As for DIY fix I am sure there are fix for everything on YT, if you want to save some $ on used stove go for it.
