[Best Buy] Honeywell Quiet Set 8-Speed Oscillating Tower Fan - 40" - $71.97

BestBuy has this fan on sale for 89.99 but I was able to price match this fan to Home Hardware where it is listed at $71.97, since this fan was not available at my Milton Home Hardware ( but available at Georgetown Home Hardware which is like a 15 mins drive) but available at Milton Best Buy.

Best Buy link >> https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ho ... c/10405408

Home Hardware link to price match >> https://www.homehardware.ca/en/8-speed- ... /p/3828122

Had a strange incident though when trying to Price Match, the lady at Best Buy customer service told me initially that since this fan is not available in stock at the local Milton Home Hardware, they CANNOT price match. I counter argued that its available at the GeorgeTown location which is like a 15 mins drive, but she said she will speak to her manager.

Finally the manager told me they would do this as a one-off and agreed to price match, however I was surprised at their implementation of price match policy. I though that as long as it was any Canadian retailer on their Canadian website ( online) and not an obvious pricing error, BestBuy should honor it, so strange that they told me something else. Anyways she was able to price match finally, so no bad blood there lol)

To be honest id say if you can, just buy from Home Hardware directly, if its easier. This is a great quiet fan and with the heat that we are seeing in June/July itself, August is gonna be HOOOT. Good for the hot peppers I have planted though ;)

This thing is surprisingly noisey. A regular rotating fan from Honeywell will probably be a better buy.

Prob a stupid question but is there any major difference between a $20 fan and a $70 one?

I have 4 of these. Worked great the first 2 years but then all of them started making noises.

Usually the more expensive fans with have better bearing so more quiet in general, more settings (fan speed, angle, etc.)... There's also some overpriced stuff like the Dyson but if you fan afford it, it's a great fan while not worth the MSRP.

I opened it already and it is very quiet at least for speeds 1-5 ( which will be good for most days and nights). Speeds 6,7 & 8 are a little noisy though, but better than what I expected

Can also chime in and say that it is very quiet compared to my other fans through level 1 to 6, pretty much inaudible if you've got anything else in the room making sound. Though level 7 and 8 can get pretty loud. It is also fairly small/thin and a minor inconvenience is that the bottom is empty space so the air doesn't reach my feet when I'm sitting down + another place for dust to gather unless you can use that space for something.

Comparable to the classic Costco Seville tower fan? They creak and squeak so much now that I would consider one of these.

i personally think its great and would recommend it for sure, having used it today. The stand should have been made of a little heavier material for more sturdiness, but no complaints though. Really cool air, lightweight and quiet fan. Very happy with my purchase.

I wish it had google home integration, so I would not have to drag my lazy a$$ 2 feet in the night to turn it off, but it has a remote & also I cant really expect all that for 71$ Winking Face

The trick is to increase blade circumference, so it can rotate at slower RPM and be farther away.

This is the best fan ever. I have it in my bedroom keep it on lowest level. You can't even hear it at all during the day. And at night it's very quiet too.

In all honestly, I think tower fans are space saving and more quiet in general therefore commanding a higher price. When you look at how large condos are nowadays, you want to maximum the space

Personally, 80 bucks for this fan also seems extremely overpriced but to each their own. There's also the issue with longevity. Who knows if Dyson will break down in 5 years but I've read many cases that this particular fan has broken down over time and made an awful noise. There's even footageof it on amazon's review page. That's also on top of the fact that it might stop oscillating over time
Gotoff wrote: So is lowering the ac more efficient than getting a fan and using electricity?
Why not do both? An AC probably takes up way more power but the fan will help circulate the cold air.
