[Best Buy] HOT - TODAY ONLY: Philips Hue A19 White & Colour Light Bulb $30/Each

BestBuy had an offer on Philips Hue products going on for a couple days where you save 25% when you buy 2+ products. Today, BestBuy marked down the A19 bulbs to $39.99 and it stacks with the 25% discount making them $30 each. Lava hot price in my opinion.

Does this need a Hue bridge or the bulb itself can be connected to the App?

Wow, do people REALLY buy these things at $60 a pop normally? MSRP seems crazy overpriced IMHO?

I’ve only bought hue lights on sale. That being said I have too many and they still cost too much lol.

Was able to price match at HD through chat. 10% off competitors price = $36 each, less the 25% (if you buy two or more) Came out to $27 + taxes each bulb.

Ive been troubled with this as a wake up light as even at the lowest setting they're still kinda brash when they come on. The philips lamps specifically for that purpose are awesome

I bought like 12 lights for $300 a few years back, they don't seem to go on sale (for a significant discount) that often. But I've had no problems or burnouts and I have them running probably six-eight hours a day for 4-5 years straight. They're probably worth the price of $60, but I'd never pay that price.

Edit: Just realized I have had problems in another comment. My one Bluetooth bulb has been annoying, losing connection once in a while. All my other bulbs are attached to bridge.

The Hue Go lights are awesome for this and as nightlights. Granted they do cost 3x more than this bulb.

Yeah I tried them for a bit, when the light went on in the morning it was really harsh and would wake me up instantly. Instead I shelled out $200 for that good red-yellow-white Philips wakeup lamp, and that thing is a godsend. I haven't woken up groggy in four years.

perhaps slightly off topic, but for those considering without a bridge...

i got some of the gu10s and installed them but the BT connection kept getting lost. i'm considering getting a bridge to manage the connection better (was on my phone), but not really looking forward to spending the $$ on a bridge for ~12 bulbs.

I have one BT bulb, I hate it. It's had no connection for like 3 months now, and I've just let it be lol. The other 11 bulbs are attached to bridge and are great.

I tried these and Nanoleaf bulbs, and found both to have inconsistent connectivity and memory of last settings. This stuff shouldn't be more troublesome than flipping on a light switch.

Find a starter kit from HD (not sure what stores may still have stock) but $80 for a hub + 3 colour bulbs is the way to go other than a time machine (SDM was clearing out the hubs for $30 last year I think).
