[Best Buy] Insignia 43" 1080p HD LED TV $230 (or $200 open box) (NS-43D420NA20)

UPDATE- Now up to $300, often down to $230, or $200 "open box" It's been as low as $188, so keep checking if interested.
The "open box" one I got in mid-February for $200 was brand new, nothing had been opened as far as I could tell.

EDIT
Very happy with ours -it's an inexpensive but totally adequate TV. My reading suggested we don't need 4K as we'll be like 8ft away, so 4K resolution would be lost for a TV of this "smaller" size. Also, streaming at 4k would consume data for no visible difference.

I didn't see a lot of other "deals" posted here about TV's in the 40-46 inch size range.

Consumer Reports for this model basically says the picture seems great, Insignia is amoung the most durable brands, sound is mediocre. (But I've an external speaker)

Very happy with our purchase.

It was on sale for 180$ just before Christmas.
Since it's Best Buy brand, I woud expect it to reach that price again.
Please note it's a "dumb" TV, so no smart functionnality. You will need a Chromecast or some other device to watch Netflix. Prime Video, etc.

My sister bought one for her kids. For 180$ it was a good deal.
For 250$ they are better TV out there.

TCL 3-series 40” 1080p roku smart tv for the same price

4-series 43” is $318. You may not notice the 4K but you may notice the HDR. I paid $250 for it a year and a half ago prime day and it’s a great little tv.

Right, thanks Darryl. Both of those seem good. The thing that makes me hesitate is Consumer Reports brand reliability rating is 3/5 for TCL, vs. a solid 5 for Best Buy's Insignia brand. I usually keep things for a long time, so that's important to me.

Incidentally, Consumer Reports testing for that TCL 4-series model says the HDR rendering doesn't work at all.

I've had a few Insignia TVs over the years and have always been happy with them.

At the moment, I'm using this Insignia 22" 1080p TV that I bought on Boxing Day for $86. Very happy with it.
A lot of good reviews as well.

Bought one for the bedroom on the Black Friday sale. It's OK for what I needed, but don't expect anything stellar about it. I think at this size 4K doesn't make a lot of sense, at least for me. At $180 it was a decent deal, but I wouldn't pay $250 for it. I was thinking at some point to return it and get this S&D from TheSource, but it's too much hassle because I already have it wall mounted, with soundbar, etc: https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/tvs-home ... /108089354 (the site seems to be really overloaded at this time an can't verify it, but the link should point to a Samsung 43" 4K at $290 - Scratch & Dent)

I got it for $180 too. At that price, it's well worth it. I wouldn't go above $200 for it though.

Got an Insignia on sale a while back to be a wall mounted office tv dedicated to CP24.

Works great for that purpose. No need to buy anything better.

But as others mentioned, these prices have gone lower and will go lower again if you can wait it out.

Although I like the Insignia brand, I think I'd still wait for a better price.

What I wouldn't do is buy an RCA or Element or other similar brand that also goes on sale quite often at places like Canadian Tire or Maxi.

I see you put 1080p but that's actually FHD not HD (720p)

Apparently, 10 years later, Kramer vented his frustration over that comment.

Regarding the OP TV, this would be a deal circa 2013, with all proper respect.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

Would be a decent monitor for PC. It's 250. Can't expect miracles. Check reviews.
