[Best Buy] Lenovo 15.6 laptop i3-8145u/512G SSD/8G/FHD - $499

One Day sale

Seems an okay deal
i3-8145U, 512 SSD, 8G RAM, FHD

The processor is slightly better (about 20%) that R3 3200U
Larger SSD
The RAM is probably upgradeable

The screen is probably TN panel, couldn't find info on Lenovo's website for this particular model

FWIW, you can get refurb Lenovo laptops with the same specs off ebay for about (230 USD) ~$310 CAD

For anyone that missed the Black Friday amazon deal on the Lenovo flex 14 for $599 plus tax. I have an extra one that I ordered. If anyone in west GTA wants it they can have it for the price I paid ($678) or it’s going back to amazon brand new sealed. Let me know!

Lenovo Flex 14 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop, 14 Inch FHD (1920 X 1080) Touchscreen Display, AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Processor, 12GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB NVMe SSD, Windows 10, 81SS000DUS, Black

from display quality prospective, are they the same?(not taking into account the touchscreen option)

this one: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/p/lenov ... verviewtab
and this one: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/le ... 0/13982603

to me, it worth it paying 100$ more for 512GB, and i dont mind about touch or non-touch. what i mind is just the quality of the display, both of them are FHD, but not sure about the matrix itself... i am not savvy of monitor matrices

The 399 microsoft laptop should have the best displa quality among the three options

This laptop was on a "Today Only" sale on the 11th also, I purchased it that day for my grandparents. Haven't seen any deals that compare with a 512GB SSD and 8th gen Intel CPU. Only caveat would be if you wanted a touch screen or TN if that is the panel, I receive the laptop today so I can take a look at the model number.

The microsoft one is a good deal also, but the HD is a bit small as OS is probably 15-20% of the disk.

According to the teardown video, you can add a HDD to the MS store laptop, but I am not sure if it has to be a 7mm HDD or it can fits 9.5mm HDD

so i should remove existing 128 gb and replace it with another, or can keep existing one? i am not good at such things.

The IdeaPad S340 with 15.6" FHD IPS touch display with Ryzen 5 3500U (2.1GHz, 3.7 boosted) was $585 all-in (+taxes, -rebates) near the end of October. Better display panel, and AMD onboard graphics are better.

I also support AMD's business practices over Intel, so I am biased there too.

This model does have larger 512 SSD instead of the 256 for the previous deal though, but prices are dropping for SSDs.

Personally, I would just simply replace the 128GB SSD since I have a extra SSD at hand, and if you do a lot of downloading, you might need to add A HDD as well

Picked this up on the way home. What a shit keyboard layout! Definitely returning tomorrow, and paying closer attention to that next time.

EDIT: I wonder if they put the wrong one aside for me....worst problem is left shift is split in half with left part being shift and right being pipe+backslash, but in the pictures on the website its a normal looking shift.
