Is this a good price for this? It's a 2021 model... OLED55C1AUB.

same price at Costco with a realistic chance it's cheaper in store depending on location. Their warranty alone makes it the better deal to get it at Costco

Wondering the same if purchased through Costco.

Might be a good deal (I honestly dont know), but in the TV world, $400 savings seems so ho-hum on a $2000+ unit.

I find MAP pricing has taken over and the cost is mostly controlled by the manufacturer. Don't know if Black Friday or Boxing Day sales have any teeth anymore... it's basically the same price everywhere you go as the pricing is controlled.

Don't forget that eco fee of $24.70 + HST (on top of the fee) if you are in Ontario as well.

Subtotal
$ 1,999.95
Eco Fee
$ 24.70
Estimated Tax ( HST )
$ 263.20

Current Estimated Total
$ 2,287.85

The C1 is the relatively new 2021 model, no big discounts yet. Last year's model was the CX, and there were some bigger discounts on that model a few months ago, but the last ones are pretty much sold out everywhere. There is also a more expensive G1 model that has a slightly improved OLED panel as well as the faster processor for 2021 that it shares with the C1.

Complicating things is the fact that LG is gradually switching all production to the new improved OLED panel, and it is apparently starting to show up unannounced in recently-manufactured C1 models (LG says the G1 is still superior because certain internal settings are tuned for the newer panel in all G1 models, whereas all C1s use the old settings - but access to the secret panel-tuning settings has also been leaked on the internet, so who knows?). There's no known way to tell which panel you're getting from the serial number, and experts say there's enough variation between OLED panels that it probably matters more if LG is cherry-picking the best panels for the G1.

Not overly, no. Its a new model and still kinda early in the year, so not a bad deal per se. But 55" OLEDs for <$2000 has been commonplace for a few years now. If you're in a rush go for it and don't feel bad about your choice, but otherwise I'd wait it out and try to get this for ~$1600-1700.

Or wait until the 2022 model comes out with more features and the same MSRP. OLED technology has to go down at some point, especially since TCL is developing one now to compete. We need more companies making OLED, for more competition so the price comes down.

Visions offered me this TV for $1850 during their employee pricing event last month (I'm not an employee it was just an email they sent out to their public mailing list, so more like a "friends and family" event). They said that would probably be the price on Black Friday too. So I think there's still a little bit more to be saved on this TV right now from $2000. This has been selling everywhere for about $2100 recently, so this is like an extra $100 off.

You can wait out the next years model forever if you want. In general OLED prices have been going down the last few years, and overall very few meaningful features/changes have happened with the new models over that time. But yes, more competition should push things down at a quicker rate.

I remember reading Bestbuy covers burn-in but Costco doesn't? But Costco is better for everything else?

Burn in no matter who you get it from. I only say to get it from Costco because of Costco's warranty

If you're planning to watch cnn/fox news/ other content with static logos for hours every day then this tv is not for you. Other then that burn in is not an issue. Interestingly I just purchased the 65" version from costco with a warranty, read through the contract and didn't see anything mentioned about burn in not being covered. On top of that they cover pixel degradation which is what on oled panels burn in actually is, unlike the old plasma where the image actually gets burnt in to the panel. I've also read people here getting their oled burn in covered under costco warranty, but ymmv.

Yup back in 2017 I was looking at 77" and best deal I got was $17k, hard pass. Recently picked up a 77" CX for $4400 tax-in.

Bought this last week. It’s $1989.99 in store (+ $25 eco fee).

If you have a car that can fit it, you’ll save $10.

Based on my research, I don’t think the price will drop more than another $100-150 for Black Friday so I figured if you want a TV now, it’s already a good price.

Yup I got a 2016 65" for the last year of 3D, would have loved the 77 but at that time they were ~$20k. Crazy how far they've come down

I've got the 65" E6, and yeah its fantastic! Every now and again I think it'd be nice to get one of the new 77s for the bigger screen and improved performance of the recent models, but its just not worth losing out on the 3D to me especially since I've built up a fairly large collection lol.

That's why you keep the 65". That's what I did LOL

OLED has come a long way since. It's brighter and panel uniformity has greatly improved.
