[Best Buy] Marathon Pilot's Chronograph 46mm Men's Analog Watch - Black - $4,249.99

Seems like at least a few hundred bucks off from most Canadian retailers.

That price is out to lunch. It's a Valjoux 7750 movement, better off getting a speedy for that price.

Marathon makes excellent watches, they are a Canadian company designing here and manufacturing in Switzerland. Unfortunately they somehow end up being far more expensive in Canada than in the US, even after FX conversion. Feels as though being a supplier to both the US and Canadian government they have enough business to not care about the retail market. I'd be interested in a TSAR or GSAR if the prices were more favorable.

Weird that Best Buy is directly selling that.

Happy with my SAR, but doesn't get much use these days with Garmin watch.

The biggest watch movement people I know are in legal or finance, maybe Engineering.

If you are a movement person, I may have a future PM from a post-happy novice you might know.
Nah, not a watch guy yet... (I don't have any 'collective' items), just like reading about them every now and then.

You can travel back to when you had the 4 grand.

I'd say it's more like you can travel back to a time when you didn't have the 4 grand to begin with.

Why would anyone want to pay this much for this watch rather than a Speedy? LOL such a rip off

I beg your pardon, sir.
This is not a mere "watch".
It's a chronograph!

I have a GSAR. TSC actually used to sell them and I got it new for $625 (many) years ago.

I would never pay this much for this chrono, just not worth it.

Definitely if you are interested in a chrono.....a Speedy is the way to go. However, the price of those is sky high too. Omega has cracked down on discounts and the Speedy Pro is going to be $6K,

RFD is not just about saving money, it's about the thrill of the hunt and getting the stuff I want without paying full price like Joe Shmoe did.
This applies to everyday items as well as high end items that I don't really need.

I would love to get this watch when I win the lightning lotto with the free $2 ticket.
Give me some time. I will keep trying.
