As usual, i would not recommend a computer with only 4gb of ram. Too slow.

Hard to recommend at $500 with 4/64 emmc, it probably should be the regular not sale price.

This should be an apple product at this price/performance.

I bought a new device this week and I was looking at the Surface lineup pretty heavily. A lot of the reviews commented on sluggish performance at the 4gb RAM option when coupled with weaker processors - decent devices for streaming and basic browsing, but performance takes a major hit when you put anything even slightly demanding on there, including the Office 365 suite of software, which is one of the cornerstones of this lineup.

Food for thought. I have yet to see a glowing endorsement of devices with these specs at this price point.

It has an awkward situation, $500 price tag cannot justify its Ram and SSD, both are not even usable and not expandable.

If you compare it with chromebook lines, although it has a decent cpu, it’s performance with win11 is no better either.

if apple has something similar offering, I will be more comfortable to accept that. Because I know apple cares about customer experience, at least for a few years.

Soldered 4g ram and emmc storage with windows is abomination in 2021-2022

4gb RAM plus eMMC is generally considered a godless abomination in a modern machine.

Great price, but SSDs cost a nickel, and 8GB RAM is cheap enough.

This is classic 'price discrimination' in Economics.

Not bad if you could get ChromeOS installed on it, but wouldn't give you access to the play store. Windows would be a definite pass.

4 GB RAM is crime. Every laptop should be banned with 4 GB

Hey guys, why downvote?? You don't like the item, fine, leave a comment and give your opinion. But 260$ off it's a great deal for someone that was looking for this product.

I think you mean Linux, ChromeOS requires a "real Chromebook" to be anything but a giant pain. The specs on this are really ungood.

eMMC will degrade and break due to usage much shorter time than standard SSDs. Especially if the Windows OS and Internet browsers use the eMMC to write a lot of temporary files (they do) . Even if you use this for a short time, you won't want to pass this down as a 'hand me down'.

Essentially, quick to be Environmental trash

There is a solid use case for the Surface Go line - it is super portable for those that need to be in the Windows environment. I still have the first generation of this tablet, and it was amazing for a carry-on only traveler when we were able to travel the world before the pandemic. Yes, it chokes with programs that need stronger processing, but there's always a trade-off when you have a device that fits a need like this one does. Using a VPN to work QuickBooks and other programs on my home desktop computer actually bypassed the limitations with this device for me. YMMV, but I will upgrade to this device again in a generation or two if Microsoft continues making these.
