Downvoted because this game will be effectively worthless in a matter of years.

It's already worthless once we enter the new year.

Probably won’t get that cheap until the season is over. I dunno if PSN did it but I got NHL 19 free with XB Games with Gold last summer.

Aside from lineups, what's the difference between this and the last 5 iterations? EA is the laziest, greediest game maker around.

Not much, got some Alumni Teams and new commentators. Commentary is still repetitive, but Snoop Dog shows up every few games to talk about his 100 hockey jerseys.

The jump from NHL 17 to 19 was quite significant in regards to franchise mode. In fact, NHL 20 (from 17) combined with 19’s changes is a quantum leap. Scouting and drafting were massive improvements and adds a lot to the game if you play this mode. Yet, stupid things like how contracts work and negotiated, stupid GM trading AI are still there. The introduction of coaching dynamics has potential but works poorly right now,

While I agree commentary is still repetitive, the new play by play guy is horrible, Maybe he’s appropriate for arcade modes, but he needs to calm TF down in regular games.

Skating is way improved since NHL 17/18, but the shooting changes in 20 could use some work.

Otherwise, all the other “improvements” are for online mode only. You into EASHL, HUT and so on, well, EA pumps the time and money into there. Want a new sweater or toque? They got you covered. Want bug fixes? Forget that.

In the end, I skipped buying it this year. I still play 19 which isn’t much better but it was free for XB Gold members last June.

Honestly, I can live with all the warts if they could implement player portraits for computer generated players. Maybe if I paid $1.99 per player they’ll look into it...

For anyone who’s interested, Best Buy has this for $24.99, sale ending Feb 28.

It probably won’t go down in price any lower until the NHL season ends.

They need to take a year off and actually make a new game. I'm not touching these $80 roster updates

In the case of sport games at this time of year, I would agree. If you buy a physical, unless you can flip it more than $10 to some sucker on Kijiji during the off-season, these aren’t worth anything once the season ends. Less clutter once you feel you are done with the game.

I know people are still asking for $20 for NHL 19 on the used market. Not sure how successful they are, but I doubt any serious sports gaming fan even considers it.

So wrong as the teams get updated and the playoffs are coming. Do you even follow hockey? Heck the NHL Trade Deadline is Monday and they have shows on Sportsnet and TSN from the early morning til 3 pm and a little past covering all the trades and thus the price drop as another exciting time in hockey is upon us. People thinking about hockey means people buying the game. Also it is never worthless once in a new year as even into the next full season you can play the old game online still and many do. Finally the roster change as people call it well for some hockey fans the only way to go back and play the old teams is to own these older EA titles. So you and MereShadow are both wrong.
