best buy now charging $50 for tv delivery.

I was shopping around for a new TV and saw one i liked at best buy, I have been waiting for it to go on sale and it finally did, then I noticed they are charging $50 for delivery. I remember checking a month ago and delivery was free. If that's the case i'll buy it from else where where delivery is freee.

Ask your brother or friend to help you. Why need to complain? We brought a 60 + inches TV, my friend and I carry it from the store to the van and drove home, carry it inside my house unpack it. Nothing is free now a day.

Free shipping isn’t free. If it’s not charged separately it’s built in to the price. You are paying for it either way. Compare prices of the items with “free shipping” at costco.ca vs in-person at the Costco warehouse for example.

ordered 75in TV from costco last month
too big to fit in my car
Costco delivered, sent two guys, carried it up two floors through narrow zigzagging stairway in my tiny townhouse.
if they charged $50 for it, I would have gladly paid.

Did you tip the bus driver when you were on a bus? What about when you ordered that Mcdonalds? Did you tip the Amazon guy who carried your package to your door?

They worked above beyond. For delivery, they only have to delivery the box in front of your house near the door entrance, or inside if they are nice. Absolutely not second floor.
This is a liability issue if they come delivery stuff inside your home and break your antiques, who pays for it?

Jesus, did you forget your decaf this morning? I was asking because I had a Costco appliance delivery last week and didn't tip. My neighbour said I should have. I was asking an honest question. Thanks for the smartass response.

At BB the price is the same online and instore. You can look at it as free shipping or as shipping is built in the price and everyone pays for it.

I didn't tip the delivery guy who dropped off dining set last week from Costco. If they zigzag way into my house, then probably. But he just dropped it off in my garage.

Straight shooter talk, simple solutions to complex problems!
People that can perform "menial" labour tasks skilfully should be tipped just like accountants, lawyers, logistics managers, and all sorts of other people in the Tertiary/Quaternary workplace are. Just change the vocabulary a bit and it makes it easier to wrap your mind around. Here's an example to help you out:

Did you offer him a Performance Bonus?

I thought BestBuy charged delivery for decades now. Visions does also, I bought a 75" TV and it was also $50 delivery. It sounds par for the course.
c'mon get happy!

I would tip them if they actually go beyond what they normally do. Most delivery people will just leave it at your door and be done with it. The garage is the most they would do.

One time ordered a couple of toilets from Home Depot. They were online only, so delivery was mandatory. I happened to have sprained my wrist on my main hand that week and when I answered the door, the delivery guy was just going to leave the toilets at the foot of my front steps. I have 4 steps. He didn't even want to bring it up to my porch. In the end, I had to use my left hand and try to drag them up into my house.

I actually wanted my delivery charge back for him not even wanting to help me...but in the end, he stepped in to help because I was fumbling it with one hand.

If the delivery includes bringing the item in and set up, then they're likely compensated to do that. If they don't have to and they do, then they should get tipped.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion.

Costco TV orders have “Room of Choice Delivery Included” in the price.

The delivery agreements have clauses which state reasonable access to the premises. Or you might as well stock you house full of ancient artifacts and set a trap for the delivery people. It doesn’t work that way. Delivery companies also have insurance.

I actually have to agree with you on this. I bought a TCL 65" TV from Costco and the TV was bigger and heavier than I thought with the packaging. Good thing the delivery guy helped carry it up the stairs. People need to take into account gas and effort as well. I'm probably the last person on Earth that wants to pay for shipping. $50 or some nominal fee for something as big as a TV is worth it.
