[Best Buy] Razer Kishi Controller - Android & iOS

Just noticed that this is back on sale and I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Android one. Might be decent for anyone that's getting into xCloud or Stadia.

Android version is $30 off ($79.99) and iOS is $40 off ($89.99).

Pick up a Bluetooth xbox one controller and get those clips where you attach your phone to it. You'll have a much more comfortable and versatile set up while probably coming in cheaper than this.

The main purpose of getting devices like these is for portability. Full sized controllers are obviously more comfortable but it would be odd to use it with you while on a plane or camping

This. Bluetooth android controllers are like $15 on Amazon.

Tbh I can see both sides of the argument. The Kishi isn't exactly saving you that much room if you think about it.

It actually does since you can stick the kishi together into a smaller footprint and it's not as thick. Very very big difference vs. lugging a whole controller with a clip (and an even bigger size addition if you add a case to protect the controller)

Agree with this. I was actually in the market of a collapsable bluetooth controller like this before, but circumstances changed so now I'm holding off on the purchases.

$80 is still quite a bit but it's worth it for those stuck in long commutes I'd think.
RFD: Pick any two.

How durable is the connector that plugs into the phone? (the USB-C/lightning connector) If it breaks can it be replaced?

You have to get the “double jointed” one like the 8bitdo one for Xbox controllers. All the ones for PlayStation controllers are trash.

That said, as someone who took something like 70 flights for work before the pandemic, the size makes a HUGE difference in your carry on / bag. If you’re just at home then yeah go with something more comfortable.

I can't imagine it's comfortable taking out their Xbox/PS controller out while on a transit and clipping their phone on it. Not to mention it'll look ridiculous having that out while there or taking it around with you all the time.

At least the Kishi makes it look somewhat like normal a handheld gaming device

Yeah the Kishi is far from being the perfect on-the-go controller and if you don't have a big need or want right now i would hold off or look into the gamesir X2 (2021 version with proper dpad) which has bluetooth and usb c versions. I have not personally tried the x2 but it's one of the better alternatives.

I have both the clip and kishi. If at home, I'd definitely use the clip which is a lot more comfortable with the proper xbox one controller. The weight balancing can be a problem if you have a heavy and big phone - you should adjust the position and make sure the centre of gravity of the phone is somewhat vertically aligned to the controller.

For kishi, it is definitely the preferred option on the go and on planes etc. However, it is definitely nowhere as comfortable. It may take a while to get used to the distance between the left and right hand and the buttons are not as ergonomic. The WORST part is that the phone is not very stable if you tend to smash the keys in certain games because Kishi does not have a steady backplate (just a flex ribbon). My 5.5 inch phone is also too small to fill the gap and it can slide up and down a bit.

This is not a standalone controller.... You need a cellphone for this to work. Nvidea sheild can accommodate any controller so just pair an old Xbox or Ps controller for it to work
