Best buy refurbished categories

I was browsing the Best Buy site for a new dashcam. I came across this refurbished one that is half price from new. It has a 30 day return policy and appears to be "refreshed" from an authorized manufacturer reseller. The condition is classified as "good" and they also have one that is "excellent" which costs more.

I'm wondering if anyone has ordered best buy refurb before and what "good" actually looks like.

This is not from best buy. This is from a third party on their marketplace, so you best buy will wipe their hands of you if there are any issues at all.

Personally, for that fact alone, I wouldn't touch this with the proverbial ten foot pole.

Thanks for reminding me I have to put my Aukey DR02 for sale on Craigslist, now I've updated to a Viofo. :)

I have bought a number of cell phones from Best Buy *refurbished* as well as *3rd-party sellers* categories and so far so good, knock on wood.

Prices are significantly cheaper than new models and there is the added benefit of peace of mind vs. dealing with some randoms on Kijiji/FB Marketplace or even here on RFD Buy/Sell/Trade forums.

I typically look for sellers with a lot of positive reviews, understanding there can be shill reviews in the mix, but again like I said so far so good.

This

Marketplace Sellers / 3rd Party Resellers are just well advertised Craig’s List / Kijiji Scammers
No different than buying stuff at a Garage Sale or a Flea Market
It’s 100% an AS IS PURCHASE

I don’t buy any such stuff without knowing it could also be 100% loss

Personally … my hard earned money is worth more to me

So I buy most stuff new
Esp when it comes to tech
Which I tend to hold onto much longer than the average Consumer
Thereby getting my money’s worth out of things I do buy
(Cost of NEW bought on sale promo … DIVIDED by 5 to 10 years of use = A GOOD DEAL in the long run )

Surprise, surprise: Best Buy’s third-party reseller marketplace is full of crappy junk Thread

Best Buy says refurbished tech on its third-party seller marketplace is like new at a lower price. We tested that claim and went inside stores with hidden cameras to find out what employees think about the products.

I can't understand how these large companies let 3rd parties sell through their site, at least without vetting the sellers. Very negative impact on BestBuy's brand when they facilitate peddlers hocking sub-par goods.

That said, large company and they likely make a good bit of coin taking a cut from 3rd party sellers or though fees. Brand image and customer loyalty takes a back seat to profits.

Well put. At least in those situations you can physically see what you are buying, marketplace is like sending money to a random and hoping they send you what was advertised. Hard pass from me!

I learned years ago to not buy repacked, refurbished, open box shit that was returned.

Only had bad experiences... wasn't worth the savings for me. I wait for something to go on sale and get almost the same price for a sealed, brand new item.
