For those who want to get this to complete their collection.
Rise of Skywalker for $20 reg 27 (blu-ray) or $25 reg 35 (4k/blu-ray combo).
Some of the other SW movies also appear to be reduced.

Already seen the movie in theatre so I'm in no rush to get the Blu-Ray. I'll wait for the next time Wal-Mart put these on sale for $4.

I haven't purchased a physical movie in years so I'm a bit out of the loop here.

Are Blu-Ray movies not natively in 4K these days? I can't see why there would be a separate 4K version of the movie unless it's meant to refer to the "Ultimate Collectors Edition"

Current Blu-ray Discs are only capable of 1080p, the newer format "Ultra 4K Blu-ray" (which requires a new disc player or something like an Xbox One S/X) does 4K as the discs have significantly more storage.

Disney+ is 4K HDR streaming and although it's not completely as perfect quality as the 4K BluRay....Disney+ is sufficient for 90% of the population and has great image quality anyways. 4K BluRay will have the better audio quality, but that's if you take that topic seriously.

Tried to find in a Walmart during a grocery trip recently but wasn't in stock... As a collector of physical media I hate that finally they have added the French titles to the slipcover and book jackets. I get it. But the movie isn't La Ascension De Skywalker. It is The Rise of Skywalker. They can and do include french versions but I've always hated that sometimes the media here reflects useless title changes. Oceans Thirteen blu-ray was actually changed to Danny Ocean 13 for French.

Disney dropped the ball with the Skywalker Saga though. Poor visuals and poor audio. I'll probably get this eventually just to completw my set but from the US only. I might pick up the OT 4K separately and then the PT separately.

Well damn, I had no idea. I guess the 'base' Blu-ray was meant to outright replace DVDs but still give up-sell opportunities for 4K players
Cheers!

Canada,Eh!
This feels like the most uneventful Star Wars day in recent history.

Obviously due to the pandemic, but things like the usual Amazon "SW:The Black Series" items, or the Oculus "Vader Immortal" series of VR games could have easily been thrown out there for 1-day deals.

Hell, Oculus can't even sell their headsets due to lack of stock, so why not bundle up the 3-pack of SW games for a few $'s off????

It's like they're not even trying to get some easy money from bored consumers.

Oh well, wallet safe.

Just going from memory (even though I lived through it):
DVD: 480i
Blu-ray & HD-DVD: 1080i/720p This was HD. There was no upsell for 4k because it didn't exist.

Apparently my entire memory of video formats and supported resolutions is totally off! I've been living in the streaming era for too long

saw it on 4K

the film is pretty grainy for a modern produced movie. Not sure if they were going for that "look".

overall, the move itself is just average 6.5/10. They somehow failed to capture that "everyone comes together at the last minute" bravado that Avengers End Game pulled off so well. Still better than whatever the hell "The Last Jedi" was lol

Hmm this has been $25 for the UHD-BD for like a week now, not sure if worth it if it's already on Disney+. I don't have that either and haven't seen the movie but perhaps better to just watch it on there, wait for a decent sale on the 3D from UK... Zavvi had it for 20 pounds for May the 4th looks like, but sold out already--kind of expensive still too.

Too bad the Chewbacca mask isn't on sale like last time, would be a better buy than this.

Putting it on Disney+ doesn't really have anything to do with that though.

1) It's May 4th (Star Wars Day)
2) Frozen 2 was also released on Disney+ quickly because of the current times
3) Pretty much all Disney movies will be on Disney+ a few months after DVD releases it seems. This is just slightly expedited likely because of Coronavirus and Star Wars day.
