RTX 30xx series Laptop Pre-orders

Best Buy has released multiple preorders on RTX 30 series laptops.

I have been looking for a new computer for a bit. I ended up getting a desktop from Costco with a 1660ti for $600 less (pre-tax) than the one I posted in the link with a 3070! So I got that one and will return the Costco computer.

A few more.

3060:

How is the cooling on those laptops? I have the strix gx502 and that thing gets hot. I would rather be patient and just build your own desktop.

Have you cooking on it? If you can make scrambled eggs with bacon it then it makes these laptops kinda hot!!! You essentially get a mini cooktop + computer, what a colossal combination!

thanks for the info. it would be more convenient if you list intel cpu devices separately or just don't. :D

- The original Asus G14 barely made it to Canada and you almost never found stock. That was announce at the beginning of 2020. We didn't see it until Autumn.
- Asus has said there are components and substrate shortages.
- Asus raised their prices, then other manufacturers followed.
- Nvidia and AMD will not say they can meet demand in Q2.
- China is slowly going under another lockdown, while many parts of the world haven't peaked the second wave

If you are on the fence about pre-order or waiting, definitely pre-order because all signs point to tight inventory and possibly prices increasing later.

Hmm that 3070 is an interesting one. Price is certainly good at $1800... Problem is that Tiger Lake processor is only a quad core (17% increase over i5-10300H and well behind the Ryzen series (even Ryzen 5)), and that screen only being 250 nits is pretty low...

A preview I saw on YouTube said the cooling has been completely redesigned with many addition and sepertate heat pipes.

Yeah, I’m considering dropping to a 3060 in order to upgrade the components (although screen and ram is the same). Same price:

Thoughts on which one to get?

None of the new Asus laptops can ship to Quebec thanks to the insecure backwards thinking people who can't tolerate that there isn't french on every packaging. Hopefully some local french-speaking small business can come up with the same level of R&D and technology since they're so proud and sure of themselves. (Big sike).

Rant aside, I think Amazon will still ship to Quebec but forget about other retailers.

Thx OP.... after passing up on that alienware r10 deal back in BF ... my quest at finding components have yield little results.. USA based system builders do have some stock but the price when converted to CAD (+ shipping + duties/tax) are looking prohibitive

these laptops seem like the best choices now... hopefully the rtx 3080 skus come online soon as well

Linus did a video recently on the mobile RTX 3000 series and some of them will have wildly different throttled performance because they need to meet various TDP requirements. You're still getting really good performance, but just don't expect the usual 3000 series output.

I think these are very good laptops. I really wish Nvidia would put the word mobile for their Laptop products.

These chips are the the same as their desktop counterparts. People should be expecting to play 4K 60fps with ray tracing on with an external monitor.

RTX 30xx seems like it would be a pcie 4 capable part, but capped at 3.0 speeds ? average user probably not going to notice, but disappointing to not include this the the refresh cycle
full size desktop rtx 30 series aren't limited by pcie3. pcie4 is mainly marketing wank at this point, with little use over the current generation for today's hardware.

another thing is ... are these laptops running max-q version of the cards? The best buy page literature doesn't quite say... the whole max q vs mobile vs max p is quite a sht show too

Man, the new TUF is looking more and more like a Zephyrus! Awesome. That $1799 TUFF is looking pretty sweet (Intel Core i7-11370H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/RTX 3070/Win 10)
Can't wait for the new Zephyrus G14 or even G15 to be showing up as preorders. :)

In your opinion, the 15 inch TUF 3070, i7 11th and 512gb ssd or the Strux G17 with AMD 7 5800, 1tb ssd and 3060?

Same price.
