[Best Buy] Samsung Galaxy S20+(plus) unlocked open box $900 +tax

Delete it if it’s a repost.
Found it when I was browsing Best Buy unlocked phones.
Geek squad certified open box unlocked Samsung Galaxy S20+, black only (blue is oos)
Ordered one last night before bed, don’t know how many are left. Good luck RFDers.

I have no experience with Best Buy 'Geek Squad Certified' open box stuff, but if it is in fact mint condition as they say, this is a pretty good deal if you need a phone now. As a comparison, local eBay powerseller has this for $975 with no manufacturer warranty. A new unit direct from Samsung (with Perkopolis discount) is $1029.

Do they verify the phones aren't tight to a contract for a potential of being blacklisted and the Knox fuse wasn't tripped (if the phone was rooted before)?

Since it’s from Bestbuy, you can check it and if issues can return it , unlike marketplace sellers a lot safer to buy than shady Kijiji or marketplace

For anyone wondering, these open box units are all 14-day return units. Battery health is like new. They've been cleaned and are in mint condition. I've bought two open box devices and they both had the original packaging and even the plastic films around the bodies. You have 14 days to return it if you have any issues and you can return in store or via shipping with a free label.

A lot of people buy these things and realize they didn't need the slight upgrades from their old devices for such a price tag. That's why BB has so many open box units.

You can check IMEI number online for blacklist. There are no root release for S20 Snapdragon north america version, not even S10 been rooted.

Is anyone still able to add to cart? It says in stock but it's saying unavailable when I attempt to add to cart.

FYI; Those who manage to get on a EPP plan, the S20+ is valued at $840 at the moment. I just signed a contract with my Rogers EPP plan and financed the phone for $34.99 x 24months.
Secondly, those 14 day returns come with a restocking fee. Just letting you know in case anyone wants to "sample" multiple phones at BestBuy. I believe restocking fee might be $75+HST.

Doesn't help to check the blacklist now as if it is tied to a contract it will only get blacklisted when they stop paying or report it stolen.

YMMV - I bought a 'Geek Squad Certified' open box Apple watch before from Best Buy.. it came, and was still connected/locked to the account of the person that returned it.

Very YMMV. Last openbox was missing charger.

I depends on how diligent the staff is in handling the return.

Any reference to this? Can't find anything saying restocking fee applies on geek squad stuff. This is sold by geek squad so I don't think any return charges are there. If you buy from 3rd party seller on bestbuy they charge a restocking fee.

That comes out to about the current price if you lease brand new phone.

Is under 19$/ month for 24 months than 350$ buyout
You are financing for 24 months paying more. You end up paying ~360 more in monthly compared to leasing, but no buy out.

So technically its a bit cheaper to lease and buy out at the end (by only a few dollars)

Chiming in here, I've bought several geek squad open box phones from best buy and they have all come in like new condition with all accessories. The only thing is that the box isn't in great shape as they use a lot of tape. If you do get a bad unit unluckily, it's fully refundable at best buy like any other item, no restocking fee.

Great way for people to buy some unlocked phones outright.

Is this a good deal, or should I wait and look for other offers?
